Mbr is totally right. If they've been collecting for a short time - say, under two months, then you can't recoup the money - it's kind of similar to paying first and last months' rent. If they've been collecting from you for six months to a year, they'd better be going retroactive on your effective date.

Ya know, everything isn't about "rights". There is no "right" to health insurance in the US.

ARe you trying to say, you have NO medical coverage at all? How long have you been with the employer? How long is the wait before you get added to the policy?

It could well be that you've been there two days, and maybe there's a 30 day wait before you get added. Or maybe six months. If it's a month or two wait, it makes sense that the employer collects the premium first. If it's six months wait, then what exactly are they doing with the premium they are collecting?

These are all questions you should be asking your EMPLOYER, not total strangers who have no idea about your situation.

For any questions on your rights for work, contact the Department of Labor(Federal Agency) in your area. Just put that in google with your home city and hit enter.

nah, they need to give you retroactive insurance. I would contact my local labor/industry office if they refuse.
