Hi!
As expected..I am engaging Crapital One on this. It seems 7 years wasn't enough to them on my report...and promptly re-aged the line with lies with Equifax. Oddly enough..they didn't touch the lines on the other bureaus. Any successful war stories to share? So far I have filed a BBBcomplaint and just sent them a bunch of proof. I'm thinking FTC and Virginia Attorney General are two good next stops. Ideas?

Thanks

Yep, Crap One is notorious for re-aging. Sometimes even going to the lengths of adding a nonexistent payment to the trade line.

Definately send complaints to the FTC and the Virginia AG.

More importantly you should also send a complaint to the Virginia Bureau of Financial Institutions (VBFI)

Yes they are good stops, although I doubt that it will get you anywhere. Have you disputed the claim with Equifax directly? I would think that it is illegal for them to reage the account (although it may not be, I went through a lot of legal trouble with Wells Fargo Home mortgage, and was told by more than one lawyer that there was very little chance of getting more, than my credit re-established, because the laws are tilted in favor of the company)

Look at the Federal Debt Collection Practice Act. They might be able to fine- and you get the $$$.

I too had a Capital ! acct and just chose to pay it off and get it done and over with. Make sure that you put a statement in to explain away any issues.

Buy the Book "To Pay or Not To Pay"

It has good advise on how to aggressively tackle your problem
