For the past 3 days I have had quite a bit of blood in my stools and in the toilet bowl. I am a 32 yr old female and am recently going through a divorce and am under alot of stress. Any ideas what could be causing this? Please advise. Thank you.

I thought the RN would get this one... =)
if the blood is "in" your stool then it is comming from inside your body...
It could be from ulcers yes but more than likely it could be polyps... I had this problem and your age would show that you are close to needing a colonoscopy anyways... Go see a Doctor but some questions you will need to answer is:

is your stool hard or soft;
have you been constipated, or passed a hard stool lately;
what is the shape of the stool;

if you been constipated or passed a hard stool then i would say hemmroids, but if it is acctually "in" the stool than it can range from Polyps to Colon cancer...

bottom line get to a doctor, stress dosent cause irregular bleeding in bowel movments

Good Luck and god Bless

It very well could be stress related. Sometimes if your body has produced a hemorrhoid and it ruptures, it can cause you to have periodic bleeding in your stool; especially if the area is still healing. Consult your primary care physician if it persists or gets worse. I had a horrible night with a rather disturbing amount that was continuously present. My parents are nurses and they recommended were some OTC stuff, fluids, and rest while it ran its course.

Hope this is some help.

if the blood is bright red, it is probably just internal hemmorhoids, no big deal, get some preparation H suppositories, and the bleeding will stop. Drink lots of water to soften your stools. If the blood is dark however, that would indicate that the bleeding is higher up in the bowel and that would be a more serious problem, like an ulcer, see a doctor.

Most likely it's hemorrhoids, but check with your doctor before any kind of self-diagnosis. Blood in stools can be a sign of more serious conditions.

Stress could have caused a ulser, a veraces bleed, fiscures( boils on the inside). If you have pain when useing the toilet or just sitting on a chair "Fiscures definatly" I don't know about cancers, I haven't had that yet.

My only experience with this was with a female family member who had an internal hemorrhoid. The blood was bright red. I forget the remedy but it wasn't too big a deal.

It could be a bacteria that's in your system...or it could just be from the stress. It might be best to go to a doctor and have them give you a stool kit to see what's wrong...

It could mean a lot of things. You shouldn't take any chances, though. It's not something that should be diagnosed on the Internet. A doctor is the best one to tell you what is wrong.
