That's a cute question. We have a squirrel who contentedly suns himself (or herself) on top of the back fence to the home that we live in. He or she is completely stretched out in a resting position when doing so. I'd say that they're generally happy little campers. They probably have their unhappy moments too, though (particularly when they're being hunted for food by whomever and/or whatever).

My squirrels are so fat that they can barely climb trees. They seem happy. I have had to limit their corn and bird seed intake.

Most of the time. But I have found , if they are in a tree and you sit down leaning your back against the tree where they can't come down when they want to. They get mad, chew up bark and spit it down on you. This is a fact.
