My Mother in law wor champagne to both of her daughters' weddings and my Mom wore Ivory to mine. As long as you have no problem with it, your Mom can basically wear whatever she wants.

Katie, the Mother of the Bride can wear any color she wants to because "she's the mother of the bride!". Seriously, she should wear something that flatters her in what ever color looks best.
Back when, I was doing weddings, the Mother of the Bride wore pink, and the groom's mother wore blue. But that when dinosaurs walked the earth..lol Last year, I went through myself. I couldn't find anything I liked, till I came across a beige dress, it had little flowers that match the colors of the wedding. It suited perfectly to the bridesmaid dresses.
I don't think that a Mother of the Bride should wear LOUD colors, no print prints, it should be more one color with just a splash of color. The Mother of the Bride should be the one to pick her color before the groom's MOm, but that doesn't always happen. I didn't care, myself and the groom's Mom get along, and everyone had their dresses before me, grandmothers included.
Katie, I answered your other question first. Here's a good time to connect with Mom. Shopping for our dresses was one of the most memorable things a Mother and a daughter can do together. Make a day of it! Do lunch! Just remember to had a little fun. Maybe pick a a ugly huge dress for her to try on. Or a little spicy number that only a size 1 could wear. Have a great with day with her.
May the wedding of your dreams come true, and may blessing of all kinds follow you through the years, you sound like you deserve it all!
God bless us all.........

Does the bride have an opinion on what color her mom should wear? A lot of brides will usually ask their mom's to wear a certain color, but everyone is different. My mom wore a long black gown to my wedding - just a simple black color looks very elegant...and it would go with all of the colors mentioned above. At first, my mom had a hard time deciding on a color, and I was letting her pick whatever color she was comfortable with - but once she tried on the dress in black, it was stunning. Navy also sounds like a really good option - or maybe even a dark green. All of those colors will mix will together.

Both you and your mother should pick a dress that complements the wedding party. This is your special day and it also a special day when her baby is stepping into a new phase of life. Sliver and darker Ivy is so nice I also like maroon. I have always liked the style long and graceful with a slight layer skirt and a nice embellished jacket or sweater. But make it special this is your day but she is the mother of the bride.
Here is a web site to read more also it has a link that show some mother dresses they are nice.

It does not need to be the same color as the wedding party. However it would be nice if it followed along the same theme. If the bridal party is wearing pinks, the M of the B could wear anything along that line, from rose color to deep magenta.
As long as it is nothing whitish or black, it will look fine and be OK. My former MIL wore white to my wedding (the witch).

Ideally, I think it should be in the same color family as the bridesmaids dresses. The pics would be prettier. But, if the bride doesn't mind, I don't think it matters. It would also be neat if both mothers wore the same color, but different from the bridesmaids. For example, if the wedding party was in pink and the moms wore purple. Or if the WP wore blue and the moms wore green or pink.

I have most often seen the mother of the bride wearing a different color. Because she's not technically a part of the bridal party, it should be enough that she look nice when in the group, and yet be distinguished by looking different.

Whatever colour will sort of "match" to your bridesmaids dresses. Not match....just not clash!! Any colours are acceptable now, the only one that might look bad in your pictures is white. I am getting married in June, my bridesmaids are in red and black, and my mom has the most beautiful black dress. The "rules" used to be that the mother of the bride should NEVER wear black...I say it's 2007 so whatever!!!!! What ever colour compliments the bridesmaids dresses, and makes your mom stand out. Have fun!!!

I firmly believe that it should be the same color as your wedding party because you want your mother to stand out. My mother looked fantastic in this crimson red two piece (black pants) outfit, but my bridal party was in crimson red... my mom opted out for the top in a teal/black color, which looked gorgeous on her.
If she wants to blend in, have her wear something close to the shade of your bridal party (either a little darker or lighter) or have her totally go in her own direction.
Good luck with your decision.
