Maybe it's just me but when it comes to partying, I would much rather attend parties with those I am closest too. Wouldn't that be the best way to enjoy yourself instead of feeling obligated to go when you know your not that close to that person?

Yes, but I am very close friends with several co-workers. I wouldn't go when someone, co-worker or anyone else, invited me to when I don't feel close to them. I fully agree with you on that part; parties should be fun, not obligations!

I do attend parties of the co-workers that I am closest to. Sometimes I have attended parties for networking with others for business purposes. Never feel obligated to go somewhere you do not feel comfortable at.

If invited to a party I do my best to attend. I enjoy meeting new people and being in new circles. Plus I have tons of parties and want people to attend when I host.

I have numerous co-workers that I consider friends also.

Not usually. I like my coworkers but we spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week together so we need some time apart. I think they feel the same way which makes it easier. No real invitations for any of us to have to squirm out of.

Depends on the person and type of party. I once went to the wedding of some girl I barely knew just for something to do. Was hoping to meet a hot groomsman or something but it turned out to be kinda lame. Free food though!

Big red flag! A single woman will have lots of single female friends at her "party" And all the married men out for a night of fun! The booze flows, men being what they are, morals loosen, regrettable things happen. And you already know what the excuse will be " I was drunk, it just happened, I did not mean for it to happen. Have him decline the invitation unless you are invited as well.

When I did work, I worked with a great group of people, and yes, I often attended parties of my co-workers.
How can you work all day long with people you don't like? That, to me is the meaning of hell.

I don't even attend parties at work. I don't want to socialize with most of the people I work with. I like most of them, but just feel that I want my off work life to be separate from my work life.

Simply put...Work Sucks! That's why many coworker often go out after work. Often times, You'll be too busy working, and not have time to socialize till after work. Get to know your coworkers better, and you'll have an easier day in the office.

I prefer my home life be different from my work life. However, I have attended baby showers, etc. for co-workers.
