If Bill Lester talked like Michael Vick,would NASCAR fans boo him?The last 3 nascar races I attended had more REBEL FLAGS then AMERICAN FLAGS flying.Will NASCAR EVER GET OVER IT'S KKK ROOTS?

NASCAR has to be the biggest bunch of hypocrites in any sport.I agree with dvs.Why in hell would the biggest racists want blacks around?The only blacks I have ever seen at a race have been picking up trash.

You are a racist! If NASCAR mandated that there will no longer be rebel flags allowed anywhere at the track,that 51% of the drivers be minorities,51% of the owners be minorities,that the control be giving over to minorities.you would still be crying. Nothing NASCAR or anyone can ever say or do will ever appease you.You are a racist and you always will be.

NASCR will always have it's stronghold in the south but I take my hat off to the Frances and Mike Helton for making an effort to bring their racing series to a more diverse audience. The introduction of Toyota into the cup series is the strongest indicator of their commitment to broadening the popularity and exposure of NASCAR. The diversity program will continue to grow and bring new talent that might not otherwise have had access to some of the desired driving opportunities. Juan Pablo Montoya will undoubtedly bring in a new Latin American fan contingency and I'm going to predict that Bubba Stewart will join NASCAR after he does what he can do in motocross and have an impact on racing like Tiger Woods did on golf. It's not unlike when women and black people got the right to vote, white men got nervous that they wouldn't be able to call all the shots anymore. Many southerners think of it as "they're" sport and don't take kindly to the recent changes. At least the people governing NASCAR have realized the potential of losing a few fans does not mean they will stop trying to bring many new ones in.

I know I wont get best answer for this, but I feel the need to say something.

I can guarentee you, no matter who you are, if you are acting like Michael Vick, your gonna get trashed at, black, white, yellow, green, etc.

And NASCAR fans, even in the south today, arent very racist at all. Sure there still might be a few, but not like the old south of the past. In fact, I have to say this.

Those who usually claim that every one and everything is racist, is more than likely a racist themselves.

Oy!! The rebel flag isn't about KKK roots..and it isn't about having a lynching in the motorcoach parking area..

The sport originated in the South..and it's fan base is still a lot of the deep south.. Do a lot of people still wave the rebel flag in the south.. sure, but not necessarily b/c they are racist. They cheris their roots and want to honor that.
Some people look at the rebel flag as many different things..and it's all about freedom of speech. So I'm sure that for many many many years to come you'll continue to see that flag at races..

The Rebel flag represents the south and there pride for most people. Only the paranoid look at it as representing racism.
Have you ever been to Atlanta? All the cop cars have rebel flag front plates. So I guess the Atlanta police department are all racist.

If you don't like the colors go attend a Yankee baseball game or go drink coffee with the no racing state of Washington. NASCAR roots are in the south. The only reason people like you watch it is due to the French family destroying it for money in their pocket.
