Firstly many congratulations on losing so much weight. You should feel really proud of yourself. As for the tummy tuck. Would it not be possible for you to speak directly with the surgeon, after all, he is the expert. I am sure he would be able to put your mind at rest and point out all of the negativity's as well as the positives. Alternatively you could go back to your doctor and tell him of your fears and maybe he could get the surgeon or someone in his department to contact you. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Well done you!! That's fantastic!
Talk to your own GP or the surgeon who is going to do the operation. All operations are dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly but spending the rest of your life either miserable or on anti-depressants isn't good either. I have a friend who not only had a tummy tuck but had surgery to remove loose skin on her arms too. She was fine and said it was no worse than having a C-section as far as the recovery went.
The family member obviously cares but perhaps is a bit old-fashioned, dislikes cosmetic or unnessacary surgery but it's not his body or feeling is it? Try and find out as much as you can about the procedure (I'm sure you'll find a lot on the web) before finally deciding.
Whatever you do decide to do, I wish you all the luck in the world!

Well done on losing the weight. I'm a size 24 now, and when I see people like yourself who have halved their size, it really gives me inspiration as I know it is possible. If it were me, I'd have the tummy tuck. I can't see it being much of a risk as you no longer weigh heavy so the anaesthetic won't be life threatening. Good on you and good luck in whatever you decide to do.

go for it girl, a tummy tuck isn't nearly the danger it used to be.
Any doctor that would tell you that is obviously not a plastic surgeon and doesn't really know what he is talking about. I had a tummy tuck after my weight loss, the recovery was uncomfortable, but I'd do it again in a heart beat.

its a hard one mate, are you sure its the flab thats makin you upset though? if it is then you should have the op. the doctors will take you through all the risks before you commit to it.
you should be really proud of losing all that weight, but why did you do it? for your health, for your looks or because of what you want other people to think about you?
its your decision babe, if your deeply unhappy with the way you look then lop it off. if your deeply unhappy with who you are then a bit of flab wont make much difference to how you feel. you need to be more confident with yourself babe!! time for some inner reflection.
i hope everything goes well for ya, im sure your a wonderful, brilliant person!!!
ps what diet were you on????

this is a perplexing question, yet i think of i'd take being extremely sensible. My intent for this is ordinary. jointly as severe happiness over a life-time would be large, it does not undergo after my dying and it would (at ultimate) purely help others via having them experience effective and chuffed around me, considering i'd continually be chuffed. in assessment, whether no longer chuffed, severe intelligence creates the condition wherein one would strengthen some thing somewhat unique (the writing of Sartre, the analytics of Wittgenstien, the complexity of Derrida, and so on.) or socially sensible (treatment for AIDS, maximum cancers, diabetes, and so on.). in this form, Others additionally earnings from my determination. to boot, if i'm profoundly sensible (say like Einstein), my paintings lives on long after i'm ineffective.
