Your question is only relevant in English. Other languages DO have better words for God. English is a derivative language made up of three or four different liguistic roots. The words 'God' and Dog' originated from other languages and through liguistic drift and cultural influences became what they are today.

There are other languages in the world besides English, hon. For instance, in German god is "Gott" and dog is "hund". Not much alike. In French it's "Dieu" and "chien".
Besides, what's wrong with the word "dog"? Is it unworthy or something? Christians are always talking about how God invented everything - didn't he create dogs too?
I think I've shown remarkable restraint here, don't you?

the word God came from the Gothic gheu and the Sanskrit hub or emu and now exists as Anglo-Saxon God; German Gott; akin to Persian khoda; Hindu khooda
The word dog came from the Old English docga, a word for a powerful breed of canine.
The similarity came simply from translation and is merely a coincidence.
Quick impression--a dyslexic athiest--"There is no doG!"

HA HA HA. You certainly don't know a thing about linguistics! "GOD" is the English word for that imaginary friend. "DOG" is the English word for the real friend.
DIOS is the Spanish word for that imaginary friend. PERRO is the Spanish word for the real friend.
