I got spanked last night but younger brother didn't.?

The other night me and my brother both got in way past our curfew. i knew that meant for me that I'd be getting a spanking. But my parents have said that since my brother is 13 now, as a boy he doesn't need to be spanked anymore. They say that it loses it's effectivness on boys after 13. But they said that girls still benefit from a spanking no matter how old. So last night I got a bare-bottom spanking from my dad and grounded while my younger brother just got sent to his room and grounded. I'm 15 and dad and mom said that as long as I live under their roof, if I mess up, ill still be spanked. I was just wondering if this was normal or fair, or maybe they are right, I mean girls are more emotional, does spanking work on girls better than boys?

I didn't think the bare-bottom thing was weird cause I have friends who told me they are spanked like that too. BUT my dad did say that when I turn 16 I'll be able to keep my panties on cause he did say that I would be too old for bare-bottom after that. If that makes anyone feel better.

Jennifer, this is not going to be easy to take. Your father is an abuser and your mother is a co-abuser. His abuse is at least physical and perhaps sexual. There is no reason to hit a 15 year old girl and especially on the bare backside. You need to report this to the authorities, that is, anyone that will listen. Your teacher, your school principal, the police, a social services worker with the government. Do it immediately!

I think you should talk to a counselor. Particularly given the bare-bottom and the fact that your brother was not spanked. When the spanking issue was before the supreme court of Canada they ruled it out for use on teenagers (reasonable corrective force can be used against children between the ages of two and 12 years old). I don't know what the laws are where you live.

Your parents beliefs maybe just that their beliefs and they may mean well, however in todays society with all that is going on, regardless of his intentions you should not be pulling your pants down even for your father to spank your butt. Some can and will see it as sexual abuse, others can and will see it as physical abuse (spanking) some can and will turn this into child protective services. I can't say if your father is doing it thinking its in your best interest, but he needs to be told by someone that this is not okay punishement or adult behavior in todays society, it could very well cause him more problems. The effect on girls vs boys depends on the child and the relationship that is between the parents and child. Personally at the age of 15 even for a girl you are too old for spankings.

Hun im 14 and having ma pants on the floor for a spanking isnt my cup of tea because as girls you know how we develope id sure be speaking out and telling them how you feel about it, My mum says that too " as long as your under my roof you get spanked " Its rediculous that boys get let off easier. this seems a little odd to me, it also seems that they favor your brother more than you because your older. Older siblings get treated more like the victims instead of the enemy. IS your dad biological? I would tell someone what your "dad" is doing to the both of you. Was your "past curfew" accidental. And what your dad said is defeniatly not true, Now that is not fair what so ever. Boys getting spanked learn from their mistakes alot more than girls(NO OFFENSE) but i used to get spanked all the time and i still never really learned from my mistakes but i did learn how to control my mistaking ways. A teen-age guy can sure get "spanked" ... even at 16 or 17. Yeah, likely we "take it" much better than girls -- and if the spanking is bare butt (or even on underwear) probably girls should be spanked by their moms; boys by their dads -- though usually dads do spank harder (ouch!!!).

Actually, your parents are right that spanking loses its effectiveness with boys around age 12 or 13 because they begin to see it as an attack and rebel, whereas girls (of all ages) still benefit and learn from a spanking. There's something about the way we're wired, I guess.

And if I were you I WOULD TELL THEM SO! If they disagree, tell a counselor at school.
If a parent is going to spank a child, it pretty much loses it's effectiveness after the age of 3, not till they are 20, 30, 40, ect.

I know you don't want to believe this, but this is sick, it's not just a spanking, it's sexual abuse to the fullest. You need to tell someone.

I do not think that it is fair. but it does happen and it happened to me, my sister and I got spanked all the way up until we were about 17 If you don't like getting spanked then I suggest you behave.

that sounds a lil bad. usually spankings stop at the age of 12. so i dont know. thats kinda crazy. espcally bare bottom. thats really gross. i would seriously talk to them about that. i guess the question to ask is. does he spank you with his hand or belt or switch. that makes a big difference. if he spanks you with his hand its sexuall assult but if hits with a belt or switch or something its just wrong to be barebottom. i would have to put up a fight if i were you. were are you from anyways maybe thats different then were we come from. let us know that.

I think that a good grounding is in order, but that you are too old for spanking. That is for very young kids to show them not to go too far. Do you have a relative that you could live with? I'd get away from them if I were you.
