I have had a tense neck and shoulder for about 10 days now. It is only sore on the left side but the right side is a little bit tender as well. the top of my left shoulder feels like im "bruised" when I touch it and it most hurts when I am sitting up straight. I also have the need to crack my neck every morning on that side to relieve stiffness (I never really cracked my neck before this). Do you have any suggestions to relieve pain or treat this? Know what could cause it? I am an 18 year old female.

You didn't say if you were employed, but it could be the result of a repetitive physical motion. Check with a doctor, and examine the things that you do every day. By any chance do you carry a shoulder bag, or backpack, on that side? That will sometimes cause it too.

Over the weekend put a warm wrap on your neck and shoulders, can someone massage your neck, relax, the muscles are causing the problems, take some aspirin, sleep, nap, lay around and relax

look up tendinitis this is most common shoulder complain
