sounds like you gave yourself a 2nd possible 3rd degree burn. Cool/cold water, NO ICE. I would honestly seek a doctor's help as soon as possible, but if that is just flat not possible, keep the area as clean as possible, and there is something called second skin at many pharmacies and at walmart and target. It is a cool gel that will protect your skin and keep it moist while it heals. The main problem with burns is infections, so make sure and keep it very clean and you can use something like neosporin. Don't use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide for those will damage the skin more.

Boy am I glad I dated a dermatologist, I learned alot on these topics :)

This is an easy answer.
VASOLINE.
yup, pure, simple and cheap vasoline.
You have to keep the burn clean and moist for weeks. Never let it dry out or get dirty.
Cover it with a thin film of vasoline after cleaning it gently in cool water. Extreme temperatures (eg hot or ice) will only irrated the damaged skin. Your body will heal this, but you have to help by keeping it clean and moist.
You can use a bandaid and put it over the burn and vasoline, or if it gets itchie (and it will when it heals) put a thin piece of gauze over it and use medical tape to hold it over the vasoline covered burn. After 1 week it will feel better and look ok. After 2 weeks it should be close to all healed. If it is a huge burn go see a dermatologist if you are worried. And if you see mine tell the hottie I sent you. LOL :)

Its been 4 hours later and I'm sure it still hurts pretty bad.

The only thing you can really do is to ICE it down and that is just to keep the swelling down. It's already been burnt so the ice wont help in anyother way.

Watch the burnt area for infection in the next few days and use a medicated cream especially made for burns (to help keep it from becoming infected)

It should heal up within about a week or so.

yeah, do NOT NOT NOT use ice. they are right main thing is keeping it clean. A natural antiseptic is lavender oil. It is incredible. My son burned the entire surface of his palm and you can't even tell now. But as far as pain, take tylenol, motrin whatever you have around the house. shred up some potatoes, and put your burn in them. this is soothing to the burn. the problem is whenever you remove the potato, the burn hurts again. this is where the oral medication comes in. if the pain is bad enough you need to go to the doctor and get some topical lidocaine or something. but you have to be careful with it and keep every thing clean because of the risk of infection. good luck and i hope this helps.

If it's really bad -seek medical attention.

Do not use ice - it causes burns (frost bite) - use cold water

Here are a few home remedies:

Egg whites - soak burn with egg whites.

Apple Cider Vinegar (I used organic raw unfiltered). Soak for a good while - 30 minutes. But probably not a good idea if it's an open wound.

Honey - again - try to get raw, unfiltered.

Good luck!

if its just a small spot, dont go to the doctor, but if its a big spot go to the doctor, alloe help, some swear my submerging it in milk, others say cold wazter, either way you need to sick it in a cold liquid because burns even after a long tim can keep damaging the interior tissues. putting it in cold can stop or slow down the process... either way, polysporin and a bandaid to stop it from getting bumped helps, and ice over top the bandaid, and if its open sore, like bleeding, dont put alloe right on it but around it instead. if it gets worse or infected (not to be mistaken with a blister) go to the doctor...hope it helps

Run it under cool water. Afterwards, try putting aloe vera cream on it. This website has a lot of burn remedies:

I agree with the blonde girl. Don't put any aloe or other medication over it right now because that would prevent the heat form leaving the area.

when you burn yourself - immediately, if not sooner- run the burned area under cold water or better yet put an ice cube on it. don't break open any blisters. keep it clean but very gently. a loose bandage covering it but not touching it. neosporine will keep it from infection. infection is the biggest worry

ice ice ice..............apply for twenty minutes every hour to keep swelling and pain at bay. If a blister forms, cover it with a bandage, do not break the blister, let it heal on it's own, if there is an open wound, see a doctor.
