Are you preaching or asking?
You should know that correlation does NOT mean causation.
Alcohol maybe a factor in the Western people behaving badly....what's the factor in Muslim countries behaving badly?
Just because muslims do not drink, doesn't mean they do not commit any crimes (domestic assault, rape, murders etc). Muslims love to bring out all these statistics to prove that what Islam preaches is right...why don't you also bring in statistics from muslims for comparison purposes. Just because these things are not recorded doesn't mean that they didn't happen! Seriously!
I am not denying that alcohol has negative affect on the brain and body.

Thank You for sharing that information.
*Buddhism also Encourages its committed Followers to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs [The Noble Eightfold Path - Right or Skillful Action - the 5 Precepts].
*"There are six results of drinking alcohol and taking illegal drugs: Decreasing Wealth,
Increasing Quarrels, Danger of Disease, Gaining an Evil Reputation, Indecent Exposure, and Ruining One's Intelligence !"
-Digha Nikaya 31.
*But Buddhism does not say it is a Sin to drink alcohol, but encourages its followers not to, primarily because it inhibits our ability to Live as compassionately and Mindully toward humanity.
*Your research was interesting. Thank You.
-Life is sacred. Life is Precious. And knowing that the consumption of alcohol might for some of us, cause harm or even take the precious life of another is reason enough for many - to stop consuming alcohol altogether.
`
* Have a calm, peaceful weekend.

Metta to Everyone.

I agree with you completely, but you left out the Islam part of it. If i remeber correctly, the Qur'an only outlaws "drunkenness" or "intoxication." It specifically mentions that it's because you can't pray while drunk, as you don't know what you're saying. However this is just the Qur'an and I'm sure there are Hadiths that go into this further.

Yes... totally accurate.
By the way, Keiichi, umm... HOW does a person know how much alcohol is "small amount" and how much isn't? EVERYONE who drinks alcohol has a CHANCE of getting drunk; no one's guaranteed not getting drunk, you see.
So your argument isn't valid enough, buddy. Say that to all those folks who drink, and then tell me how many of them actually control not getting DRUNK.
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon the world and all of its citizens. Aameen!

you have given facts and figures, which many people within this post have refused to accept.
Quran specifically says at one point that Alcohol causes more harm than good, so better avoid it, another verse says at another point that dont say your prayers if you are intoxicated, and then finally it said that alcohol is completely forbidden.
For me and most of the muslims, this is more than enuf, and anyhing that is said in quran is accepted without reasoning (mostly).

I don't think it is prohibited altogether, more like a sin.
But you can see the good intentions behind religion condemning alcohol abuse.
Even non religious people know that drinking too much is bad.
Also eating pork meat is a sin for Muslims and Jews.
This because in the hot climate of the middle east at the time it was prohibited
pigs were carriers of disease meaning you could die if you eat pork.
But now it's OK.
All religions mean good, as long as there is tolerance and and respect for other people's values and beliefs.

Does Islam prohibit alcohol completely? Or just Intoxicants?
And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants..." 16:67
Alcohol is an Intoxicant "if" you drink enough of it. But sipping it would not make a person intoxicated.
"O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them that you may succeed." 5:90
Jesus said in small amounts alcohol is good for you.
Isaiah 65:8 says: “As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, ‘Do not destroy it, for a blessing is in it.’
Amo 9:14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
Num 6:20 and the priest shall wave them [for] a wave offering before the LORD: this [is] holy for the priest, with the wave breast and heave shoulder: and after that the Nazarite may drink wine.
Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God.
Zec 10:7 And [they of] Ephraim shall be like a mighty [man], and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see [it], and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.
1Ti 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

Well, at least you posted actual facts this time and not the bunch of crap you posted last time.
Now tell me - the Qur'an doesn't tell you to wear a beard with only a mustache (which your current avatar does) - so why are you doing that?
