You don't get into Heaven through works. Helping others will only get you a crown and/or treasures. Motivation? How about genuine concern for all the people dying around you?

There is a heavenly class and an earthly class. If you have to wonder what class you are, you are not of the heavenly class. That belongs to the 144,000 from the earth. I know I am not of that heavenly class but of the earthly class and this is all right by me. Just imagine no more stupidity and confusion ever again.
Psalms 37: 8 - 13
Let anger alone and leave rage; Do not show yourself heated up only to do evil. Â For evildoers themselves will be cut off,
But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. Â And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. The wicked one is plotting against the righteous one, And at him he is grinding his teeth. Jehovah himself will laugh at him, For he certainly sees that his day will come.
Revelation 14
The 144,000 holy ones of the Most High God will be kings with Christ for a thousand years without successors. “These are the ones that keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. These were bought from among mankind as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.” (Revelation 14:4) Being bought from among mankind, they were once ordinary men and women just like all the rest of mankind, but from this fact earth’s inhabitants over whom these 144,000 will rule as kings have nothing to fear.

Any judochristian who says you get to heaven by works wasn't paying attention to the book. Works alone will get you nowhere... Doing a work because you wanna look good or get in to heaven will get you no where. It's about faith... and faith causes works... When you believe and you love God you want to please him you want to do what he wishes and you want to love your fellow man to show them the love God has for them. Our motivation should never be a concern for self but for another. If you see a man needing food you don't do it so he'll think you're a good person or so people will be impressed with you like an initiation to some gang. You do it because that person is in need and you have been given the means by God to fill that need. To whom much is given much is expected. Faith causes a desire in us to spread the love so to speak....
Its like this... If I had the cure for say cancer... Should I keep it to my self or should I spread it around... and should i spread it around and tell everyone i can about it because i want people to be better and live healthy or because i want to get the recongition. If you are doing something for the reward for your self you're doing it for the wrong reasons... Christ taught us to be servants... to serve eachother to help eachother that is why he washed his disciples feet... to show that even the most High isn't above helping someone.

Well, I don't believe that heaven exists. I prefer to act morally because it feels like the right thing to do. It's a combination of genetic predispositions toward certain ethical ideals, as well as societal concepts that are drummed into everyone's brain. It's an intuitive thing, but it's perfectly logical. Help is often reciprocated, therefore it is to my advantage to help people. It also makes me happy to see others happy, and so I help people. There's no bribery involved.

I help others (reciently, a woman who was trapped in her upturned car after skidding off the road) not only because its the right thing to do, but because its makes me feel good to do so.
Eternal, or any other kind of reward, never enters my thinking.

You help people because it is the right thing to do and if you have the ability to help someone make their life better why wouldn't you do that.
I am a Christian so I do believe that I help people because it is a Godly thing to do. Do I think that it will help me into Heaven, sure. BUT it is not the reason I help people, I help because I can and I don't like to see other suffer.

Amazing that you have such a powerful screen name, but give not Glory to His name.
If we are loyal, show love, compassion, and kindness, then we are slandered, misunderstood, misrepresented (as in your loaded question) and criticized.
Too bad you do not have a clue about what genuine love is. You obviously have observed it, but could not recognize it. It is not just sad, it is dangerous. Are you truly going to let the Love of God pass you by?

The Bible says that God draws a soul to salvation. He makes a way for someone that truly wants him.
I am motivated to preach the Gospel when I am led, otherwise I let my light shine.
I don't want anyone to go to Hell, but I don't push God on anybody. He knows their hearts.

firstly the bible says that helping anyone has a reward from God it is NOT heaven you can't earn a place in the sky that is not in the bible ANY where the reason for helping anyone is because it pleases the Lord for you to move with compastion for others to answer their need as he provides for yours is the reason for to have anything accroding to the Word of God salvation is the gift of God through Jesus Christ helping others is a blessing of good works that God equips you for and unto for His pleasure not your place

helping someone to get to heaven, will not get you to heaven. The only reason I or anyone else can get to heaven is because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross- no works save- we want to do good works after being saved because we chose to be Jesus to others- however just doing something is not the way to receive salvation. "We are saved by grace through faith, not of own , lest any man should boast".
