That depends on the particular church. For example, I didn't have my Reconciliation til 4th grade (First Communion in 2nd) but my younger cousin recently participated in Reconciliation before Communion......there's no set rule on it.

Always. It is a practice that should be upheld throughout the rest of their lives (going to confession before receiving Holy Communion, particularly if you have a serious/mortal sin on your soul), but sometimes the importance of the sacrament is side-stepped. It is important to be pure before receiving Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. The same goes for adults entering the Church as well. And also as previously mentioned, baptism needs to happen before any of these other sacraments take place.
God bless you abundantly!

Here we go again with all her HATE & jealousy , that little creep by the name of Teri who I just reported for abuse.... First time ever reporting anyone but she appears everywhere with her stupidity and tend to hurt the brains of those who have learnt the joys and powers of using it... as they trained it with "accurate knowledge" and not cut and paste crap...

When will she give up all that anti-catholic bashing........!!!!!!!!!!
. What is being parroted by the anti-Catholics is the fanciful history of Loraine Boettner a leader in the anti-Catholic movement.

Teri You need to lay off the drugs and try living in the real world for awhile. If you truly want to know about God, then quit thinking you already know all you need to know and dismiss the possibility there is a God. Find a good Christian church (I would suggest Catholic Church ) and study what they believe. Then and only then could you make an informed decision about what true FAITH is all about. Before their First Communion, yes. The object is so that their first time taking the Host, they are free from any sins. It's part of the Sacraments. I had to go through it, it's no big deal.

Dear dear dear!!! Yes they do! and it is just awful! as the institution of the Memorial to have this holy communion with Christ began at the last supper when Jesus asked the ones who were anointed to become a part of his heavenly kingdom or government with him to go on doing in memory of him... Now stop and think for a moment; whenever you do anything in someone's memory, how often do you do it... Rule of thumb? Once a year! This is when any celebration whatsoever is celebrated but his idea of giving it to children and anyone who goes for it many times a day even, is totally pagan in origin and has nothing, not one iota to do with the truth of what a true Christian is required to do... Not to mention the fact that no celebration or anniversary ever comes on the same day of the year such as the pagan festival and custom or tradition of celebrating "Easter" as the One Day Christ asked us to remember which only the Jews celebrate on the accurate and appropriate day which is their Passover celebration on Nissan 14 from the Jewish calendar and then you have the Witnesses who also celebrate of that very same day the true Memorial of Christ... If you have such a place of pure worship in your neigbborhood, (they only study the true word of God there, from the Bible) and I would strongly urge you, if only for the sake of the healthy curiosity your question proves you have, and see for yourself just how many people should partake of that communion... It really is only meant to the ones who are a part of the ruling kingdom to rule the earth with Jesus as our King, after Armageddon... which according to most scientists, shant be much longer as they fear that before ten years are up, their own kids won't have a planet to grow up or live in anymore... See the movie or read the book "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore and his scientists friends... who participated in the making of it!

Yes, and I remember being so conflicted at age 7 on whether or not playing doctor with my sister was a sin or not and if I had to tell the priest. So conflicted that I talked to my grandmother (Grhs) who had been a novice ( in training to be a nun) about just what was or was not a sin that had to be confessed.

Yes, if they are already baptized.

If they are baptized and then receive First Communion on the same day then they will take part in their First reconciliation about a month later.

With love in Christ.
