Presumably, they didn't die. This is probably the most troubling aspect of integrating Genesis with evolutionary theory. The notion that death came about as a result of sin is an important and central doctrine. This would not necessarily be true given evolution. I am sure someone has tackled this issue, but I've not researched it.

Animals were not created to live forever like man was, animals died. If Adam and Eve had not sinned, they would never have died. If Adam and Eve had resisted Satan and his lies and not turned against God, Jehovah would have destoyed Satan right then and there and man would be enjoying eternal life on a paradise earth as God always intended. But God through Jesus made the arrangement to correct all the evils works of Satan.

It was only humans that didn't die, animals have always died. Humans are different because we made in the image of God (ie our consciousness, the way we feel and think).

Genesis 1:26
And God went on to say: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the domestic animals and all the earth and every moving animal that is moving upon the earth.”

That is the point. Nothing died before Sin entered the world at the hands of Adam. He ushered in this monster that has been ravaging the world for nearly 6000 years.

So if nothing died, how did they eat? Did the animals eat nothing? Why did god intelligently design mouths of lions to tear meat when they didn't eat meat and there was no death?

Or did the lions eat meat but the poor meat didn't die? It didn't digest but came out the other end chewed up and alive?

Did animals not need nutrients?

The animals didn't die.

To the man that answered beneath me. The animals ate plants and the greens of the land, as the Bible said, then after the fall all the animals became carnivores that God wanted to. Then you'll ask did plants die? No, because according to the Bible things that are living have blood, and the breath of life breathed through their nostrils, so the question is can something that isn't alive die? No.

They didn't. You are mixing up Creation with evolution. All animals were created along with Man about 6,000 years ago. The fossils that we find are of animals that died in the Flood 1600 years later. They did not live and die previous to Man's existence.

They lived as prey and predator....but somehow they magically stayed alive even after they ate one another. Please don't believe that lions ate leaves.... And please don't believe that one persons actions could force everyone to pay for their consequence....that is something I would expect from a star wars movie...or a hairy potter book.
