I've just been noticing that a lot of atheists/agnostics on here have a bad attitude towards Christians. I just find it odd that they get upset with Christians about pushing their beliefs on others and yet they want to hang out on the religion/spirituality section of Yahoo!Answers just so they can try and crame their opinion down the throats of Christians. So I'm just curious...why do you hate Christians? Atheist and agnostic is not a religion or a form of sprituality. One side of you doesn't even belief in God and the other side says "I don't know what governs the universe."

I am not bashing anyone and I do not hate atheists and agnostics...I just really want to know. So many claim Christian cram their faith down people's throat when in turn they do the same thing.

I used to claim Atheist when I was younger, but I have since become a Christian...and when I was Atheist I NEVER felt the need to push my opinion that there was no God on others.

Christianity's special gift, in the view of many theologians, is in its doctrines of grace and forgiveness. This should allow them to make peace with people attacking them here, and display this gift. I doubt grace will be demonstrated by getting the better of an atheist in argument, by turning their attacks around on them to demonstrate hypocrisy. Rather it will come about when one looks behind the attacks for the reasons, and addresses these with compassion. I look forward to the masters who can do this here and show us what these teachings are all about.
It is typically human, not odd at all, to return harm for harm without even being aware that one is doing it, or minimize it and the hypocrisy involved. This is how feuds are sustained.

This question looks incredibely familiar but I will entertain it nonetheless.
Atheists and Agnostics DO, in general, tend to have an attitude towards Christians. Christian DO, in general, tend to have an attitude towards Atheists and Agnostics as well. I'd like to confirm that fact before I procede so you understand that the animosity is not only on our (the Atheists and Agnostics) side. I would also like to add that I do not hate Christians and a majority of my friends and family (since I live in the Bible Belt) are Christians. It's the ones that do not properly practice the religion by forgiveness and tolerance and instead are hypocrites that I have a problem with but still do not hate.
People argue over differences of opinion very frequently and it just so happens that the opinion or belief regarding religion and spirituality is one of those that people tend to feel the most passionately about. So it is very silly for you to get upset because Atheists and Agnostics come on this forum and disagree with your beliefs.
Whether you like it or not, Atheism and Agnosticism may not be a religion and we may not be spiritual but Atheism and Agnosticism ARE in fact belief systems. We do have opinions and beliefs regarding religious and spiritual matters. We are entitled to those opinion regardless of whether you agree with them or not. We are free to post those beliefs and opinions whether you like it or agree with it or not.
So I'm curious...why do you hate Atheists and Agnostics? You make the common misconception that when we state our beliefs, because they are different from yours that we intend to cram (not crame) our beliefs down your throats. If you can't handle a debate or a difference in opinion, then perhaps you are the one who does not belong on this forum, not us. You seem to think that because of our beliefs, we have no business posting here but we do not lack beliefs, they are simply different from yours.

I neither hate or dislike Christians. I answer questions directed to Atheists. Some of my answers are quite sharp when impolite cracks are made about us.
A good example can be found in your question, " cram their opinion down the throats of Christians ".
There are a great many instances here on Answers, where Christians are attempting to cram their beliefs down throats. Of course, that's okay and proper, if you're a Christian.
So before bashing Atheists, ask yourself what is it about non-believers that you hate.
And, by the way, I do know what governs the universe. Nature.

I am a Taoist, a pagan, and an atheist. Do not assume I have no spiritual beliefs just because deities are not part of them.
What I dislike about Christians is: self-righteousness, holier-than-thou attitudes, when they revel in the thought of the eternal suffering of their fellow men, when they declare their way is the only way that could possibly have any merit, when they believe it's okay for them to not try to better themselves because they are 'saved', when they ask questions that sound snotty because they believe they already know the answer (I dislike this regardless of the belief system of the asker); when they pass judgement about the afterlife of others (which they are not supposed to do. This is exceedingly rude).
I also dislike it when they assume they know everything about what all atheists believe or dont' believe. And when they claim persecution because other people won't play along anymore but dare to disagree with them openly, these days.

My interpretation of agnosticism is that whether a higher power exists or not, we don't know, and we probably can't know, at least until we die perhaps. For me it's not an apathetic, "I don't know, therefore I don't care", but rather I want to state that I feel I cannot know, but if some revelation comes forward which rings true and which is unmarred by human falsehood and religious agenda or doctrine, I will be open to it.
In those times when I've spoken up against a particular opinion put forth by someone who is openly religious, it's often been in a situation where that person is trying to justify some action or philosophy which is immoral or just plain evil using the Bible or Koran or some other religious doctrine as their foundation. I certainly don't want to cram my opinions down someone else's throat, but I will occasionally go out of my way to tell someone that I think their opinion is absurd or foolish, or more importantly if that opinion justifies heinous acts in the name of God, is effectively putting words in this God's mouth. How can anyone claim to convey the true word of God if that truth is not self-evident, but rather interpreted from scripture or oral tradition or any number of other means by which religion and tradition have been handed down through the centuries?
For example, religions in many cultures decree that woman is subservient to man, and some have gone so far as to decide how women may dress, how they may act, and so on. Is this really the case? Are women really supposed to be inferior to men such that they must cover themselves and not participate in things like hard labor, warfare, and toil? Or would women rather prefer equality based upon what they can prove themselves to do in reality, instead of accepting a role put forth in doctrine?
It's absurd, in my opinion, to embrace the Bible, the Koran, any other written work of the human hand, as the true word of a God. There is certainly value in scripture in terms of the parables and anecdotes which are presented, but the true word of God? I find this hard to believe, and although some might suggest abandoning reason to faith, I for one don't think this is true.

It is not all Christians just the extremists. Just as the extremists pedal dangerous nonsense. And those extremists want to take over our schools so they can brainwash children into their nonsense.
You are right, atheism is not a religion nor an aspect of spirituality. However Creationism is not a science or a valid philosophy. So why are the Creationist insisting that it be taught in schools as it it had any validity. They also go into the other section here to perpetuate their rubbish.

I'm not an Atheist or Agnostic, but can I answer anyways?
It is my opinion that Christianity, while riddled with good intentions, is a fundamentally damaging religion. Many of its fundamental teachings strike me as innately harmful and damaging; its followers tend to be close-minded and bigoted; and its theology is flawed. To be fair, it shares several of these qualities with other monotheistic religions. In general, I have found Christianity to be severely lacking in its spirituality, social, and ethical teachings; and Christians to be largely arrogant and rude.
