Scold him. He'll get used to it and stop.

got to get a professional steam Extraction with good equipment. They also can use a deodorizer that will remove any odor casuing bacteria. I suggest asking person you talk with " how old is the euipment- as lots advertise a truck mount as it is about 300p.s.i. for carept(better than anything for consumers) , but if it is old truck and using old hoses it realy isnt doing what it is supposed to .
They have some protable untis now that will clean out at 150-1500 p.s.i. for companies- again these arent available to concumers as the cost is well above 7000-50000 dollars on low end anyway. These can be better than truck mounts again if serviced and company takes care of equipment. Take a look, and if you dont like it dont let them do the work.
I own a flooring co business and have for 11 years- this should cure your problem.

Yes, a good cleaning is in order. Yes, neutering is a good idea. However, eliminating in the crate is NOT marking. If you haven't already, take him to the vet for a thorough exam. There could very well be a medical problem.
If the vet finds nothing wrong, contact a behaviorist. Much more information is needed to figure out why he is doing this (lapse in housetraining, separation anxiety, generalized stress?) and what to do about it.

If your dog hasn't been neutered yet, get that taken care of. And yes, a thorough professional cleaning is in order so your dog won't smell the previous occupants of the house and feel he has to mark territory to defend his home from them.

I think their animals had accidents in the house and he's trying to mark the places. Clean with an enzyme cleaner, such as Nature's Miracle. You may have to super-clean, to get rid of any smell from the other animals.

Is your dog spayed/neutered? They tend to mark a lot more if they're not fixed, especially a female in heat.
