My bro's wedding was planned by my mom, the bride, the groom and I. They had 40 people. Ceremony in the church. Organist. Hall reception. Buffet dinner with linen clothes and napkins. Disposable cameras and a professional. DJ was a friend who volunteered. They had champaigne, dinner, dancing, photos, tuxes, dresses, flowers, cake and all that jazz for under $2000. You just have to shop around, hit people up for favors and stay within your means. Be a bargainer! You can totally do it!!! Good luck and best wishes!!!

the first thing you need to do is figure out how much you can afford, talk with others that may contribute money to your wedding and then set your Total amount to spend. If you are only able to afford/recieve $10,000, a budget of $20,000 is not going to work. Once you figure out how much you have to spend, you can then start looking at how much you want to spend on everything. There are several budget calculators out there that will calculate an approximate budget for each item (see the knot or the wedding channel)

However, these calculators do require that starting number

I too am in NJ, if your screen name is accurate, this is an expensive area. Figure $200 a head for just the hall and catering, and that is $10thousand for 50 people. That doesn't include your dress and the little extras like favors and gifts for the wedding party. The difference lies in tens of thousands, not thousands. You can have a traditional wedding in a much simpler venue. The thing we don't know is, what your definition of traditional is.

Your wedding budget has nothing to do with how many people you have (well, it does; but also doesn't) You could have a wedding with 150 guests and spend 15,000 dollars or have a wedding with only 50 guests and spend the same. You need to realize how much money you can afford to spend, then get creative with that.

It really depends on the day you envision. Our wedding reception is going to have around 200 people, and for what we want the total is right around 5-7grand. Start getting ideas of what you want, then shop around a little, and save like crazy. Theknot.com has a budget planner that breaks down an average, but its not a one size fits all kinda thing. Good luck!!!

Setting the budget, how much money you have & are willing to spend dictates everything else.

If you only have $1,000 to spend, having 200 people, at a catered dinner, in a posh hotel, is out of your range. Therefore you have to make the necessary adjustments.

Only you & your fiance can set the budget.

I would say roughly about $5,000 for a TRADITIONAL small wedding. You're looking about about $40 a head for food so for 50 people that would be $900 dollars. Say $1000 for the reception hall. $200 for the ceremony. $800 for your dress $200 for his tux. right there that's already $3,100. Then all the details.

We spent about $5000 on our wedding for 200+ guests, but we had a traditional Mexican wedding, very different from an American Wedding.

It depends how fancy or not you wish to make it. I have heard of some weddings running $40,000 or $60,000, but unless you have a rich uncle, you can make it much cheaper than that. On the average the cheapest I would say if you intend on having a location wedding with food, dj, photographer and videographer you can make it from $2,000 to $3,000. I would suggest shopping around and you can find some great prices for all your services. For links to every wedding service you will need you can go to this site http://advancedvideo.50webs.com/

40-50 people, roughly $100 per person, so we're talking about $5000 for food and drinks and a favour. This is a conservative estimate. Your budget for flowers, dress, hair/make up, church etc should be separate from this budget.

Count on $100 per person for the reception.

This should cover hors' doeuvres, dinner and drinks.

Plus a few more thousand for dress, dj, flowers etc.

For your guest list $7000 - $10,000 should do it.
