you need to call in a professional carpet cleaner to get the smell out of the padding and the wood under that. If the stain is not cleaned properly and quickly it will stick around a very long time.

My cats have done the same thing with either puking on carpet or making a pile-o-poo when they couldnt get to there liter box. Instead of buying some expensive carpet freshner stuff go get the really big box of Arm and hammers baking soda. It's less than 2 bucks a box and its huge. Sprinkle it allover your carpet let it set for a day or 2 in order for it to absorb the odor. Then vacume! This made my carpet odor free hope it works for you aswell.

Theres a cleaning solution, with the word natural in it but I don't know off the top of my head what its called, but its takes out the stains, and there is no odor afterwards. My suggestion is go to the pet store and look around, I know its in a white bottle, with reddish writing, and that is supposed to work on pet stains. My brother has it, his dog had a few accidents before she was housebroken, but there is no odor or stain anywhere now.

You can use a deep carpet cleaner, like the professionals use, or hire a professional to clean them. Sometimes that's the easiest. That will take the smell out. Just make sure they don't use a cleaner with ammonia in it, because that can cause pets to urinate on it (they try to cover up the scent of someone else's urine).

Rent a steam cleaner and give the carpets a good shampoo. They usually rent for about $20.00. If that doesn't work call a professional to come in and clean them for you.

Good luck!

Pet urine has soaked through the carpet backing into the padding/underlayment.

Cleaning and deoderizing are only temporary measures.

Products you mention and others are only useful if used immediatly after accidents.

If you get some lemons and cut them open. throw them in the microwave with water in them for about 3 mins and then squueze the extra juice out and use that with a carpet cleaner or even by hand it works great!!!
