Never! I hate to say it, but I still don't want to listen to my parents. Sometimes I do it anyway, but not willingly! They can follow instructions at a young age, though, if that's what you mean. My 9 month old follows the direction of "no," but the attitude will always be there. Good luck!

My husband and I have 4 children ages 3, 6, 9 &12 and I have yet to have one really hear what I am saying. They just don't get it. Then on the other hand our parents still say that we don't get them. So I don't think children ever listen to parents.

Our children get praises everywhere we go on how great their manners are and how they are so polite it's really crazy because I know them when they are at home and they do nothing but bicker with each other all of the time. We are constantly trying to teach them the respect factor.

They just don't get it....

It all depends on the child. My first one never gave me a problem until about 8 when she started testing the waters, but is by no means "disobedient." My two year old is more of a challenge, but listens pretty well now. They key is to make what ever they are doing more fun or as fun as what you are asking them to stop. I used to tell my older daughter "I'm gonna clean up this side of the room before you can clean your side!" She would revel at the challenge and when you both help, it's less overwhelming. Good luck.

Everybody is different. Some kids listening some of them not. If they grow up and getting out the house there is still some problems and you need to talk with them too. I like the ages 9 and up you can talk and they are listening and giving you also some answers. I feel sometimes my daughter is my best friend and we having some nice talks "sometimes" and also next day is another bad day and she is not listening. So ... what I can say...

have you lost your attitude with your own parents? we all have attitude. we all don't want to listen. when do kids start to listen? in the womb. does that mean they will do what you tell them? not necessarily! you still have to be the best parent you can be and hope it all comes out ok in the end. if you're having trouble making your kid(s) listen, try to come up with a new way to talk to them, try to change your method, and see if that helps.

My 8 year old still throws an attitude at me when I ask her to do something so I don't think they ever do.

Never, they never listen. I have a 20 year old and that kid thinks she knows it all. Except when she wants something then she runs to her maaam.
