I have RSD/CRPS and I do know that people can have both, some do and others don't. The pain is a little different- RSD/CRPS pain is all over the area that you have it in, and Fibromalgia pain is only in the joints. The medications do not seem to help most RSD/CRPS patients with the exception of some nerve medications like Lyrica, and Neurontin, but they don't work for all patients. I would see a pain management doctor, or a neurologist to see if they can get you some treatment. You can regain strength and range of motion from PT, but it can be very painful for RSD/CRPS patients, and for some it makes their pain better and others it makes it worse. I would suggest looking into a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) for your pain. I have had one implanted and I have 70%-80% pain relief and I have been able to gain back a big part of my life. You can get more info on SCS's at www.ans-medical.com I know how hard it can be. I'm sorry that you have to go through this.

If you were told you have RSD, please get it confirmed by a pain management specialist. I have RSD and it is different from fibro. One of the best web sites on the net is: www. rsdhope.org Please visit this web site and you will have answers to most of your questions. The reason you the tear may not be able to be repaired is that if rsd is present in this area; surgeons are very reluctant to operate on areas that could spread the rsd to other limbs, organs etc.
Medications again are best discussed with your pain management physician. Best of luck

Most people who have Fibromyalgia also have RSD. I think you should get a second opinion from an orthopedic doctor. Changing doctors can often provide new insight into an old condition. Physical therapy can definitely help, but I would advise you to use a chiropractor for the therapy. Many times chiropractic treatments can relieve problems that doctors claim were impossible to treat.

I've enclosed a link where you can find a qualified chiropractor in your area. I've also enclosed a link to an article I have written on Fibromyalgia which may be very helpful for you.

If you have any further questions Please let me know,
