well you have put to ideas together that do not belong together. the idea of the government taking care of people is the issue many have problems with. it is the idea of the government forceable taking one groups money and giving it to another group. that is for the church should come in. the church and charity groups should be the people helping others. the church and charity groups would be able to get people back on there feet much faster then the government can. and for your info there was been two different studies done that find that right wingers give to the poor by more then 40%.

Salvation Army, World Vision, Christian Children's fund, Mother Theresa, Food For the Hungry Organization, shall I go on? Christians are at the forefront of every aid movement on this planet. I realize that some Christians may not seem very Christian at all but the vast majority of us are very concerned about the poor, injustice, the addicted, the disenfranchised, the homeless and many other social issues. You cannot paint with such a broad brush.

Most Christians contradict themselves on all issues. They have an inherent ability to misinterpret the Bible so that it suits their best interests both socially and sexually. Look at how women are scorned, abused and used for sexual playthings in the Bible which is almost identical to the way, say, Baptists (for instance) treat their women while the women are blinded to it because of the way the men interpret that the "Man is the head of household" so "do what I say without question and get those panties off Beyotch!" The Bible was changed a few times over a period of several hundred years so there's really no way of knowing what is right or wrong. That makes it quite convenient for Christians to make it "work for them" any way they want and justify it just like those answers from the Christians here obviously prove.

Jesus stated this to Judas> Luke 22:40 8 40 8 yet Jesus stated to him: "Judas, do you betray the Son of guy with a kiss?". . . Your declare is bogus. you're trolling and also you ignore about that you stated compassion contained in the approach <<>> - it really is, those of religion. those who do now not believe are to not any volume added our 'brothers and sisters'! on the diverse hand, Jesus stated that those he considered his brothers, sisters, moms, fathers, were those doing the favor of God. as a outcome, even those who declare to be Christians should be sifted in this regard. for sure, lets favor to target as an example compassion contained in the approach all - yet because you do not specify what you're speaking about, no perfect answer might want to opt to take delivery of. in case you discuss merely turning a blind eye to sinful habit ignoring this so that you'll e.g. settle for the abuse that some claiming to be Christian have heaped on many which has been contained contained in the records and courts of previous due - this may favor to now not take position! in case you discuss accepting immoral habit of the ungodly, this may favor to now not take position! Compassion isn't a calming of divine criteria in besides structure or type. As we are warned, we ought to continuously be without blemish, organic and organic and holy previously God and Christ.

To oversimplify greatly, it is because they claim to believe the Bible and to take it literally and yet do neither: they do not know the Bible well, overlook huge sections of it, quote it selectively, and so on. Not that there is anyone that doesn't do this to some extent, but fundamentalists are worse precisely because they do this and yet claim they aren't doing it!
If people would read the Bible (the whole thing), use their moral judgment while doing so, and even read serious books by scholars about the Bible, fundamentalism wouldn't stand a chance. It survives only because of ignorance.

why i don't understand is how some people can be morally opposed to abortion and pro death penalty. as a catholic i am morally opposed to the death penalty as well abortion. in cases of rape it is a difficult decision to make and not mine... but it is in no way a means of contraception. i am also opposed to contraceptives of any kind except abstaining.
i do not feel it is okay to brow beat certain groups of people for thinking differently than myself, especially issues concerning homosexuality, and racial issues. you CANNOT be a christian a pick and choose which of the ideals to follow. it is correct that gay marriage is in opposition to christian teaching, but civil unions in a courthouse is a far removed occasion from the sacrament of marriage. just because a person is white does not mean he/she has to be a protestant, just because they are black and southern does not mean they have to be baptist, and just because they are hispanic does not mean they have to be catholic. although i am thankful for the latter. hahaha...
the sad fact is that people hate parting with their money. we are a very charitable nation... but per capita we are not the most charitable. we protect trees ad animals, but children still beg in the streets of large cities. young women are stripped of their dignity because they have no recourse but to prostitute themselves out. i pray for compassion daily, some people pray for a winning lottery ticket.

They must have never read the bible.
Ezekiel 16: 48-50 (Contemporary English Version)
As surely as I am the living LORD God, the people of Sodom and its nearby villages were never as sinful as you. They were arrogant and spoiled; they had everything they needed and still refused to help the poor and needy. They thought they were better than everyone else, and they did things I hate. And so I destroyed them.

Christ was a capitalist.
Remember the parable of the talents (talents = money).
The one that started with one, and didn't increase it, had his taken away and given to the one who started with 5 and created 5 more (...or was it 10...).
So, if you create a business that makes you money AND employs the poor, you've truly being christlike.

They only live by what parts of the bible suits them at the time. Thats why. They're just as selfish as everyone else in the world and don't live by what they're taught. Its called being a hypocrite. Its one of the reasons why Christians drive so many people crazy.
