The ideal paint for a bathroom would be a smooth, easy to wipe down texture. With all the stream build up, hair and dust you would want to have the surface as smooth as possible. Orange peel is a nice effect, but not for a bathroom. It's amazing how much soil can find it's way into such a small crevice. With the possibility of hair spray, splashed soapy water, etc. you certainly would want something that easy maintenance. Also the lighter primary color, the brighter the room. You can use darker hues for the accessories.
Best of luck. I figure the quicker it is to clean, the sooner I can
relax and enjoy my day.

Smooth. Orange peel is so 1970s, so Saturday Night Fever, so unchic. Orange peel is also dirty, collecting small colonies of mildew turning later into mold. And, if you go with peel and then change your mind, ( and you will) you'll have the biggest nightmare. I had a room in a house that someone had put textured paint on and had to sand the four walls down, then skim coat with joint compound to make it acceptable looking. If you want texture on a bathroom wall stencil it with something pretty like leaf designs, branches, lattice. If you then change your mind all you'll need is a good, heavy-duty primer.

Smooth, though I like textured. You can always go back and texture the walls, but to its more of a mess to take it off. Plus smooth is easier to clean.

Again decorating is such a subjective matter. Most homeowners choose smooth for various reasons: cleaning, easy to paint and re-paint, and the aesthetics. If you think about the two rooms that we want to keep clean (or at least attempt to!), then it's the kitchen and bathroom and rightly so!! Save the rough surface treatment for the rest of the house (maybe!)
Good luck!

neither will make a difference...it is just which texture do you prefer....what will make a difference is the paint that goes on the walls....gloss or semi gloss works best....egg shell or satin works better in living rooms semi gloss for kids....they have some great paints out there spend a little money and dont go for contracter grade it is a lower grade of paint...Hershfields have sample paint that you can try before you paint to get the color you like....

what kind of finish do you have in the rest of the house? i recommend matching that finish.
generally however i recommend applying a finish to new walls. a light orange peel is very nice and is NOT outdated by any means. it also is not a germ collector or dirt collector as previously mentioned. what it DOES do is camouflage imperfections in walls that , trust me, are there...even if the walls are new. construction is performed by men not machine and there ARE imperfections throughout a "perfectly" new house.
the only time i recommend flat walls are if you plan to wallpaper that room.

Depends on the color of the wall. If you're going with a neutral color, go with the textured effect. If you are using a more bold choice of color with your paint, I say go for the smooth look.
