The climb has all the challenges: learning, hard work, emotional pitfalls. Sitting on it is taking a breather, time to unwind and relax before heading down the other side and on to the nest mountain.
It is the entire experience that is enjoyable. Sometimes you just can't see it when you're in the middle of it.

Err, this is a delicate analogy, so children please look away.
I liken the climb onto making love, and the sitting on the top to the peaceful and ethereal state afterwards.

I enjoy riding the tram to the top, then sitting on it and making fun of the ones who chose not to take the easy route.
