After looking closer, the recommendation isn't good.


I just wanted to add that others are saying that grammatically it doesn't make sense etc. It does, it just needs a comma.

La recomendación, de cerca, no es buena.
The recommendation, up close, isn't good.

Cerca can also mean fence, but not in this context.

The grammar isn't exact but I'd translate it "the recommendation of (someone close to something) is not good." If you want to know the best restaurant in town you don't ask a restaurant owner's wife.
