Depends....I used to own a 1996 Ford Escort GT. It was zippy little, dependable car, and got great gas mileage. Now I drive a 2004 Ford Explorer, and I love that too. Comfortable, quiet, reliable. Not so good on the gas mileage, but it IS an SUV...My friend had a Taurus that was a 96 I think, and it was a horrible car, riddled with problems but NOW (post 2000)they are GREAT cars. Go to www.consumerreports.org, as they have researched THOUSANDS of cars, and for a very small fee, you can research ANY car on the road today. Fords are competitive with any car brand, foreign or domestic. You can't really ask for a persons opinion about whether a car is good or not, because some people are anti-ford, some are anti-Chevy, some are "I only ever buy Toyota", based upon nothing more then their dads opinion from 30 years ago, or one bad experience. Best to use the RESEARCH of PROFESSIONALS who know what to look for, and keep years of data to offer educated advice.

I have a 20 year old Ford Thunderbird that I drive daily during the summer and it has never let me down.

In fact I've had 3 older Fords so far, and although my last winter car was kind of a clunker (Tempo, disposable car anyway), it's given me 3 years of service for $650 and never left me stranded, though I did have problems with it.

There isn't much in the current lineup that really excites me aside from the Mustang, I'm still not sold on the looks of the new Super Duty (but then, I could say the same about most of the manufacturers, as the cars are all FWD or ugly or both)

I still think Ford makes the best 3/4 and 1 ton pickups in the world, and I'm hoping to get a Ford truck this summer or fall.

I think so.. Now the domestic auto makers are trying very hard to compete w/ Toyota and Honda. The new fords are reliable and safe and have all the bells and whistles for very reasonable prices. Repairs are really not that costly (excluding the big ones) and they really are reliable cars. My mustang got into at least 6 accidents and never broke down on me. Even when the head gasket was blown and i was driving on 7 cylinders the car still ran and got me home. If it wasnt hit by another car i bet id still have it to this day. Another thing is that they are very easy to work on. the engine is very straight forward and if you have the tools and the time you can get buy with just a book. Also now they are offering unbelievable warranties on Ford.

Doubt it does - f.o.r.d may mean that. But the noun ford is actually a shallow place in a river or stream allowing one to walk or drive across. People buy the car not for what it's called but it's looks and practicality right?

they are ok to drive but they fall apart on the road my dad bought a new 2006 ford truck it have 25,000 miles and he had to take it back 5 times one time the door would not close. one time the fuel tank was leaking. one time the trans mission was leaking and then it would not go into drive then it would not go into drive then hes trailer hich broke all of witch was covered by the worenty but what a pain caring it back and what about when the worenty runes out

Some of the best cars around. The only suggestion would be a dodge 3500 diesel instead of a F-350 diesel.

Naturally, I think so. I've gotten a lot of trouble free miles out of the ones that I have owned over the years.
