First off, for anybody who "answers" that "praying" to saints is sinful WILL be reported as abusive to other users. If you can't respect how others practice religion (or you can't even be bothered to LEARN about how others practice and why they do the things they do), then please don't contribute. Judge not lest ye be judged, remember?
Okay, I have a pretty comprehensive list that I go to regarding patron saints and who to beseech to. However, I've never been able to figure out who to beseech to regarding the following "afflictions".
Insomnia and other sleep disorders
Facial disfigurements
Birth defects
The site I normally go to is catholic-forum.com, so if somebody has another good list I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!

I haven't been able to find anything specific, but I'd make the following recommendations:
Sleep Disorders - ask for St. Dymphna's intercession. She is the patron saint for nervous disorders and mental illness. While sleep disorders are not necessarily nervous or mental conditions, she's the closest fit I could find.
Birth Defects - St. Ulric is the patron saint against birth complications. Again, this is not a perfect fit, but might serve. Also, you might ask for the intercession of the Holy Innocents, as they are patrons of infants.
Facial Disfigurement - ask for St. John Licci's intercession. He is the patron saint of those with head injuries.
How blessed we are to understand that the Communion of Saints encompasses all of us here and all those who have gone before us in Faith. Thanks be to God that He listens to our prayers joined with the prayers of the holy ones whom we ask to intercede for us. Deo gratias! God bless you, and those for whom you pray.

With the way this world is going...the father of all lies is spreading like wild fire confusing the people. Unfortunately, he is growing in strength and numbers...we should continue to pray for these people. 1. I ask for Mary's intercession 2. Never met the pope - so I couldn't bow to him 3. I pray with the saints 4. Don't own any statues 5. I most certainly believe in the body and blood of my Lord and Savior 6. Intercession 7. I don't confess to a man in a box...I confess my sins to God but the priest is my spiritual guide 8. Salvation is by Grace alone 9. I have never believed I could get drunk on Saturday and confess on Sunday. - An alcoholic is an alcoholic - doesn't matter what your religion is. Go to any college campus in the United States and you will find every religious denomination drinking equally.

Given that the Bible says not to worship false gods, I'd say that classifies praying to saints as a sin.
Asking saints to pray FOR you, however, is a different matter entirely.

Praying to saints is unscriptual, I do agree you are entitled to worship as you please, but Jesus and his Father, even though telling us not to judge do tell us to warn those who are not following the Scriptures so as to prevent them from receiving adverse judgment from God. Think about this, Paul, a saint asked Jesus' disciples to pray for him, not to him, Jesus said to pray directly to his Father, and anything you ask for( being of God's will) in my name will be granted you. So if Jesus told us to pray this way, why do otherwise?
