Recycling a tyre yourself probably means finding an alternative use for it, the previous answers give some good examples.
As you've spelt tyre with a 'y' as opposed to an 'i' I'm guessing you're in the UK. In which case you can take the tyre to any waste recycling centre, some councils will collect domestic waste free of charge. The tyre (along with many others) may be sent to a reclaim centre where the metal will be stripped out and recycled and the tyre shredded into granulated rubber which is used, as has been said, in childrens playgrounds and for road surfacing.
Another method of disposal involves burning the tyres as fuel in cement kilns, several companies including Blue Circle, Castle and Rugby cement do this already.

You can make swings hanging them with ropes or chains or tied together like a net so the kids can climb on it, tires make an excellent play park , make a fence painting them of nice colors with the the half of them buried on the dirt and the other half showing like little arcs, recycling is great congratulations for the good intentions

i have seen that many parks are cutting them up and using them in parks under childrens play equipment , ive been to these parks and they make for a pretty soft landing for the kids if they fall. contact your parks department see if they are doing this if not, let them know its a great idea, im sure many will follow.
