And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a twig shall grow forth out of his roots.

2 And the spirit of HaShem shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of HaShem.

Some contend that “Jesse” is a reference to David’s father

According to Encyclopedia Biblica, however, we read:
“Jesse is contracted from Ishmael”. (Cheyene , Encyclopedia Biblica under “names”)

Biblical names wander back and forth across lines of language and translation. It is not surprising to find "Jesse" in both family branches. After all, Ishmael and Isaac were half-brothers.

By the same logic you use though, David's father Jesse is a legitimate contender for the bloodline of promise. Beyond that, there are Biblical passages that pre-date the Quran by some 2000 years +.
