im getting it at the bottom..but i do not kno which side to get it on..i have my nose pierced on my left..so maybe i should get it on my right..
im also like the girly preppy type so i dont want a lip ring too big..
i want somthin cute && small..
any suggestions?

it doesnt hurt bad at all! I dont have my nose or belly button pierced all I have is my nipples to compare it to. Believe it or not they didnt hurt that bad at all and the lip was less pain then they were. It doesnt take long for it to be over with though so even if it hurts it wont hurt long. if you talk a lot right after it is done its going to swell more and then t will hurt like hell. The third day will be the worst but it wont be that bad as long as you dont mess with it, dont talk a lot, and try not to bang it. Eating is going to be weird. I suggest using a spoon till you get used to it cause I kept hooking my jewelry with the prongs on the fork and it hurt like hell. but the actual piercing doesn't hurt that bad and like I said if you are careful with it and take care of it it wont hurt bad at all after words.
You are going to have to have a big lip ring at first due to the fact that you have to make room for swelling. if you don't use a jewelry piece that is too big you are going to have some major issues with it trying to heal. once it has healed up you could put like a half hoop in so you see the two balls sticking out. or you can find a little hoop and get a colored one. If you do like the girly look then I would suggest to your that they use an 18 gauge. 16 may work but the 18 would work better for the girly look.
yeah you should get it on he right so your face looks balanced.

Chances are it will be in between the pain of a navel piercing and nose piercing but everyones body is different and pain will vary due to your personal tolerance.
There are a lot of nerves in lips and they can be sensitive, but piercings are done with quickly so the pain from that will be fairly brief. Keep in mind that your lip will swell after getting pierced and its important to use care until the swelling goes down and be sure to keep the piercing clean.
As far as not being too big of jewelry, lip piercings can be done with labret studs at 14g and ball size can range from 6mm to 3mm (average jewelry size). Just be sure you pick out jewelry beforehand and have an understanding with your piercer that you want something smaller.

A lip piercing does not hurt at all. I went with my brother and made him hold my hand. When they pierced it, I was like let my hand go lol. It fells like a pinch....and to think about it, not even a pinch. I was freaking out for nothing! :) It was just a little numb like a day or two. A 10 year old can bare it. That's how much it didn't hurt!

no, it doesn`t hurt at all!!! i have my lip done in the center, with a ring & i luv it!!! i chose the middle because i already have a monroe on the side, & my eyebrow & nose as well, so it just seemed to fit better with what i already had...u just have to figure out the best placement according to your face, your other piercing, etc...

My opinion... it does hurt more... and alot of my friends think so too, alot of the preppy girls at my high school started getting their lips peirced and they had the cutest like silver and diamond rings that were very girls and sparkly and less punk-ish!

Yes, balance your face appropraitely. Also, nose hurt the worst for me, and I have 12 piercings! 4 not in my ears. :)

It didn't hurt for me to get my lip pierced at all...
Also, ask for a 16 gauge for your ring...it's smaller and more "dainty" if you will...

Someday when you grow up you'll take out that ring and there will be a PERMANENT scar. You get to look at that for the rest of time.

Don't do it!!! Think about infections, getting it caught in something. How about a nice tattoo?
