You only have one company to choose from in your area for instance cable? I thought there was some kind of law against that. We have no choice but to have Comcast for cable no one else is "availiable" Can anyone give me any advice I HATE COMCAST SO MUCH!

I know, comcast sucks and they run ads like you have a choice, the way I understand it is, they bid on an area and they are for 3 year runs, so when new services are available they will be added but until then you get who ever the city chooses.

Its not illegal because it isn't like Comcast is the only cable company. Cable companies own certain lines in certain areas of residental communities, it just so happens that in my area Comcast doesn't exist we use Time Warner Cable but a few blocks away Comcast is the only choice. So it really is just the luck of the draw. But you can always go with Dish or DirecTV they work anywhere. But yeah the law only applies if no comperable options are available. (like if Comcast bought out all cable and were the only choice ever for TV)

Comcast..nor Charter comes to my area, but Bellsouth actually has a digital cable service, in limited areas, and thats the one we are with. The menu screen looks a little odd but the channels show up just like other cable channels..and its much cheaper..we pay 57 bucks for all the cable and all of the movie channels.

It should be. I hate the fact that I have to put up with Comcasts Bullspit.

If I wasn't so against Satellite TV I'd switch.

And unfortunately Verizon FIOS is not available in our area yet.

Yeah the only other otpion is to go thru your phone company (Verizon has Fios Cable) or satellite. Monopoly laws don't apply is there are other, comparable options.
