I was going to make this Spinach Cheese bake which I thought would be really delicious. But my honey asked me if I was going to be able to eat the whole thing after no one took a bite of it. OUCH!

So I'm looking for something new and interesting to take. I like recipes that will be conversation pieces.

Any ideas?

Allrecipes.com has a really good buffalo cheese dip (you'd want a crockpot though) and you'd get sick of it if you took too much home.

What I like to do is a greek pizza. Get a boboli or nicer pizza crust, or make it/fridgerated dough. Spread with hummus - I prefer garlic lemon - then top with kalmata olives, red pepper, cucs, onions, feta etc -somewhat chopped up.

I agree with your husband. Counting for leftovers is important, and it's should be something that keeps easily.

My Opinion, I'm going to keep the recipe. It looks yummy (great for cucumber season) and it's vegan.

I make a chocolate cake recipe with frosting that's pretty popular. Almost everybody likes chocolate cake and this recipe is sensitive to food choices and allergies. There is a supper club at my church. It's usually the same people, but it's open to everyone. One of the other women is allergic to eggs, so she appreciates this, too. Plus, if all of the other dishes are meat and cheese laden, I can at least have some chocolate cake. After all, how bad can it be since it's made with whole wheat flour and there's soy milk in the frosting?

However, last week we got together at somebody's house and she made sure there was plenty to eat. I think she was thinking more of my unborn baby, but so what? I'm liking the pregnancy thing. He he. (As my husband said, pregnant women should be able to do what ever they want. I'm going to hold him to that.)

I use whole wheat flour and applesuace (same measurement as the oil) instead of oil. This way, it's fat free, too, and there's a smidge of fruit in it.

With the frosting, I've had to add more than what the ingredients list says to make sure I get enough for a 9" by 13" pan. I guess it doesn't help that I taste it as a make it.

Absurdly Easy Chocolate Cake
Category: Desserts - Cakes

This recipe is suitable for a: vegetarian/vegan diet.

Ingredients:
-----------------------------------------------------
3 cups flour (680 grams)
2 cups sugar (450 grams)
6 tablespoons cocoa (100 grams)
2 teaspoons baking soda (10 cc's = 10 ml)
1 teaspoon salt (5 cc's = 5 ml)
3/4 cup vegetable oil (200 cc's)
2 tablespoon vinegar (30 cc's)
2 teaspoon vanilla (10 cc's)
2 cup cold water (480 cc's)

Instructions:
-----------------------------------------------------
Mix the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients. Stir until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes two layers of a two-layer 9-inch or 8-inch round cake, or one small sheet cake. When cool, frost it.

Chocolate Frosting/Glaze
-------------------------------------
Chocolate Frosting/Glaze

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 cup of sugar
1/2 of a teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 of a cup of cocoa powder
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons to 3 tablespoons of vanilla soy milk

Directions:

Mix all ingredients. Use more soymilk for glaze, less for frosting.

For chocolate-mint: add some peppermint extract, you can add less vanilla if you want. Probably 1/8 of a teaspoon, I have never measured, all I know is it is a very small amount, just a couple drops or so.

I just found another recipe on Veggie Boards (go to Food Discussoins, Recipes, Desserts--Cakes) a peanut butter frosting. I might try that the next time I make the cake, because my husband likes chocolate and peanut butter, and I do too. Plus the exrta PB is exra protein. (Although between the fat [even though it's good fat] in the PB and the fat in the oil, I would definately use applesauce for the oil in the cake.)

Okay. I hope this helps.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://bitly.im/aNEV8

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

HUH?!? I'd gobble that right up at a potluck! It's better than the traditional burger-bakes and baked beans and potato salad.

The last potluck I was at I just did a bread bowl dip with cheese, meat, veggies, and crackers. Everyone makes salads and main dishes. People scarfed down the appetizers since nobody else brought one!

Your husband's mean!! LOL I think it sounds great....how about cutting the recipe in half so that IF other people don't eat it, it won't be quite so much of a waste.

Or how about cucumber & tomato salad:

4 medium Roma tomatoes, cut into 1" chuncks
2 peeled cucumbers, cut in half, seeded and chunked (1")
1/2 tsp fresh black pepper
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped (or substitute 3 TBS dried onion, reconstituted)
1/2 cup rice vinegar in flavor of your choice (I prefer red pepper)

Mix all prepared ingredients in a medium bowl. Store in fridge for at least 2 hours, stirring again, occasionally. Serve cold.

Most people I know love Spinach Cheese bakes.
How about a special dessert, like a trifle or tiramisu? Or miniature cheesecakes. They always go over well.

All the big old heffers I used to work with always went for the most fattening dish that was brought. So, hey why not make greasy fried chicken, or fried potatoes, or pasta, or cookies or cake.
