Several days ago my foot began to hurt. Not my entire foot, just the top of it.

A day or two later it started becoming swollen.

Another day later the inside of my lower leg began to hurt.

This is really weird because there is no visible signs like bruising or redness. Only the swelling on the top of my foot. None of my joints hurt and I don't recall hurting it in any way. But even if I did, and I can't remember, why would the pain spread to my leg?

Lucky it is only mildly painful, but enough to cause me to limp at times. I don't have health insurance so a doctors visit is out of the question.

Is there any way I can find out what this is and how to treat it?

This could be muscle strain, circulatory problems, or inflammatory problem. Very difficult to say without seeing your problem. If it's at all possible for you to get a massage I would recommend you do that. A good massage therapist would be able to tell what is causing the problem and give you help with further therapy.

Because of the swelling I recommend you apply ice packs to the top of your foot and on your lower leg for ten minutes at a time several times a day. Also take an anti inflammatory medication such as Advil three times daily. You should feel better after a few days.

Best of luck,

You must try and find some health insurance, you cannot live life without visiting a doctor. The pain you are suffering could be a no of things.I think it is a mild sprain .You could ring a herbalist. I think you could visit a/e but they would advise you to see your own doctor.Try a herbal poultice, made from comfrey leaves and lay them on the swollen area.If these are not in season, try Arnica cream and Arnica tablets because they reduce swelling. If it does not improve after 4 days go to a doctor. It could also be a torn tendon or ligament ,they can be injured easily without even realizing it.

Soak your feet in warm water with a handful of table salt in it .Do this for 15 mins before going to bed.

Consult the doctor if this doesnt work
