Or do you refuse to look at it?

Divinity: Mostly the stuff related to why your doctrine keeps changing. It claims it's final and unalterable and then someone else comes along and changes it. The whole time, both are supposedly inspired by God since they are prophets. New prophets can't override old prophets if the old prophets tell you their testimony is unalterable. If they could, God would be lying.

Refuse to look at it? Ha. I camped out on this site for a loooooong time.
When I was researching the church, this is where I got a lot of my information to take to the missionaries. After a lot of researching and soul searching I joined the church. I went back to the site a few times after joining, but I never saw anything there that I didn't already go through. So I haven't been back in a while. I left no stone unturned, so I think that is what made me have the strong testimony I have today.

If you're trying to educate mormons on what is wrong with their religion, I only wish you could go through all the research I've gone through. It took me a long time, but I wanted to know the truth in all aspects.

About the changes you speak of. God does not change. God can change His rules for us at any time, depending on what is best for us at that given moment. One big example is animal sacrifices. It is no longer necessary due to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
If you are referring to polygamy. Just as in the Old Testament, it was necessary at times, at times it was not. That doesn't mean that God changed, it means we as humans aren't able to comprehend the mind of God. That's why He giveth, and taketh away. It's all due to our state of righteousness.

I have read several stories on exmormon.org and I find myself wondering, WHAT church are they talking about? Because it sure don't sound like the LDS church I belong to! And I've been in wards in Ohio, Utah and California. I've been to big wards, small branches, ethnic wards, etc. And I was never taught a lot of the things that some of these people say they were taught.

It does not impress me when they say they were thru the temple, as I have been thru the temple, also. It does not impress me when they say they were an elder, as my husband and oldest son are elders, and younger son will be within the next year. My husband was even Elder's Quorum president. It does not impress me when they say they were born in the church. I have spend my whole adult life in the church, almost 30 years. I have been very active most of that time. I have searched lds.org, mormon.org and a host of LDS apologetics sites, seeking answers. The more I seek, the more I know I am right where God wants me. I have read and studied the Bible, and the Book of Mormon. The more I read the Bible, the more convinced I am that I am right where God wants me. Same with the Book of Mormon.

I have gone here a few times, after I left the church. I know that there are people out there who do have bad experiences with the LDS church. I know people who have bad experiences with a Church that's not LDS.
Those of us who do leave the church need a place where we can go to vent. When you leave the church you feel very alone. When all of your friends and family are LDS who is going to understand what you are feeling inside, but someone who has left the church.
As for you Kevin L. I know that I will be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He isn't going to care what church I went to.
Ladies and Gentlemen, If you wonder why so many former LDS have bad feelings toward the church and take a look at Kevin L's post. That is what most LDS people think of those who leave the church. That is why so many former LDS fight and pro-test the LDS church.

Hi Meatbot.

You already got some pretty good answers. The ex-members experiences are covered with hate and bitterness. These come from Satan, not God. Even the ones who sound kind and sincere are really ravening wolves who show righteousness outwardly, but inside resentment and anger control them.

Most of these doctrinal "changes" can be explained with two concepts
1. Milk before meat.
2. Dispensations

I feel sad for them... they once had truth, but now they have become like either
1. The prodigal Son
2. the lost coin
3. or those who have been offended and choose not to forgive.

Hope that helps.

I already have read lots on that site, some of the stuff actually strengthens my testimony :D
I probably should not be reading anti-mormon stuff. What exactly would you like me to read and tell you how I feel about it? I would be glad to share my thoughts and feelings on any subject. Knowlegde is power :D

I feel like certain doctrines are for certain times. That is my personal feelings on that.

I enabled my email so you can email me any thoughts/questions/concerns and I will try my best to be honest with you. I am doing this so maybe we can try to understand eachother more :D

I have looked briefly at this site. What do I think of these exmormons' experiences: I think as with any religion people that leave the religion are not going to agree with the religion or else they would not have left it. That is fairly obvious. It is their privilege to believe what they want but it doesn't change my mind.

By the way I haven't seen many questions from you in a while.

it is said in the scriptures that once someone has tasted of the truth and they leave it they cannot help but to fight it. it doesn't say it in those exact words but thats what it means. they cant have the truth anymore so they make it their sole purpose in life to destroy it and even make up lies and alter their experiences to make the truth seem false.

I think it's sad. They leave the Church, but they cannot leave it alone. Not satisfied with the loss of their own testimony, they now seek to tear down and destroy the testimony of others. That's where they lose it.
