Hell is just the grave - the "lake of fire" is the burning place...Two separate things.

Satan bound for 1000 years
Re:20:1: And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Re:20:2: And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Re:20:3: And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Re:20:4: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Re:20:5: But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Re:20:6: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Re:20:7: And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Re:20:8: And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Re:20:9: And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Re:20:10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. GOD IS LOVE

To feel pain, nerves are stimulated, the nerves send the message that something happened to the brain, the brain interprets the message as pain, you say OUCH and then you know that candles+fire+skin= painful burn. When you die, your body ceases to function. The nerves are dead. They feel nothing they cease to be stimulated by anything. The brain ceases to function, so it cannot interpret anything as pain from the nerves that cease to send messages to the brain. Because the nerves no longer function, and the brain no longer functions, the body ceases to function. No heart, no breathing, nothing. You are dead, you cease to exist. Nothing more can happen to it after it is dead, other than to be buried in the ground and slowly decompose. Continue to follow this line of thought, and the utter impossibility of burning in hell or suffering in hell become clearly obvious. In this line of thought, the existence of hell becomes an utter impossibility.

There is no hell...it is a myth created centuries ago by religions and rulers to make their subjects behave. Any god who allowed hell to exist would be a cruel torturing tyrant and not worthy of worship.

You can stop your burned finger hurting by wrapping it tight so oxygen doesn't get in. That is where the pain comes from.

The Word says it's a place with weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth where the worm nor the fire dyeth not. Complete misery and pain forever. Surely that isn't someplace you would want to go of your own free will. It will certainly be much worse than a small burn on a finger from a candle flame.

Close your eyes and imagine the one and only thing that makes you the happiest.....

Now pretend it is swiped away from you in a blink of an eye. This will happen to you over and over in Hell. You will hurt in ways that your nightmares can not even imagine. Remember that there is no Love in Hell, only pain and suffering, so if you like to suffer and do not need Love than enjoy your trip...oh that's right, there is no joy in Hell.

On question, Why were you lighting a candle? Deep down do you really believe? Maybe you are trying to make excuses for your sins by trying not to believe. If you were talking to a Rabbi than it sounds like you are Jewish. Seek council and guidance from your Rabbi. I don't want to make you become Christian, but I can tell you that Jesus said, "No one gets to the Father, but through his son". And Jesus was a Jew. Maybe seek some answer from HIM and trust me, he will show you what you want to know. There is proof that he existed, almost all religions believe he lived. They say things like, "a great man", "a great Prophet". Now how can that be if he lied about who he was and why he was here? If you truly want answers than look for them. It is a natural curiosity of humans to seek for God, you know why? Because he is REAL.

HA! Christians have some pretty weird ideas od Hell...

Judgment happens but its for your own good and does not last forever (364 days at most)

So sit back and relax it won't be that bad... be a good peron now less judgement later.

Oh and about the finger... get bbq lighter next time!

Read "23 Minutes in Hell" by Bill Weise for a very good description of what it will be like.

But more importantly, it's a seperation from God.

Satan is in hell. It simply means that the spirit of God no longer lives within you. It means the total absence of God. Humans will not experience this until the end of time. Then the wicked will all be destroyed instantly along with Satan never to exist again.

No !!

Hell is a burning SHAME.

Hell is a THIRST for living water.

Don't listen to that idiot, study God's Word.

Hell is separation from God, not eternal torture or burning.

HELL IN KJV
One Hebrew word “sheol” is rendered hell. Definition; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), grave, hell, pit. Three Greek words are rendered hell; geenna, hades, and tartaroo. Definition of geenna; a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. Definition of hades; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell. Definition of tartaroo; (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: - cast down to hell. Tartaroo is used only one place II Pet.2:4.
Christ teaching the Pharisees in Luke 16:19-31 shows us a separation from God is truly what hell is. The “water” is symbolic for God’s Spirit and love. The word “tormented” means distressed in the Greek, not torture. The “fire” is symbolic for the shame and desire not to be separated from God.
So all who die the first death of the flesh return to God Ecc.12:6-7, but on which side of the gulf do they end up?
Hell is not eternal but is done away with in Rev.20:14-15, called both the second death and lake of fire. This second death is non-existence, for death and hell and those not written in the book of life. This second death or lake of fire is like fat drippings that fall into the fire. Just a poof of smoke into non-existence.
Psa.37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
In my mind what’s worse yet is no memory of you, no tears will be shed for you like you never existed.
Rev.21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So hell is a separation from God and is not eternal torture or burning. Eventually hell will be done away with or passed away and also some souls. Like fat drippings in the fire, a poof of smoke into non-existence, the second death.
