Large majority are Catholic Christians. It might be that a lot of them have very elementary knowledge of their faith.

Now, let me ask. Do you really think the U. S. is a Christian country?

No, it's primarily a secular/Catholic country, mostly secular but still steeped in the pagan traditions of Catholicism, which is why Catholicism was so attractive to their pagan ancestors. Their religiousity is contradicted by their social behavior. As Catholic as that country is, they still have abortions and the drug trade is rampant.
