Malaseb Shampoo? Can you get it anywhere in England WITHOUT prescription?

i really want to get this for my dog as iv heard a lot of success stories from people who have used it but i can only find it for sale abroad without prescription.
Any help will be much appreciated! *Thanks*

No I'm afraid you can't.

All drugs and medicated things are classified into the following groups:

+ GSL (general sales list - things you can buy off the shelf)
+ POM (prescription only medicine, which is illegal for people to sell WITHOUT a prescription)
+PML (pharmacy merchants list - over the counter stuff that pharmacists will limit the sale of)
+ CD (controlled drugs, only used by vets, never given out to owners - like morphine and other opiates)

Malaseb is a POM, so you won't be able to get hold of it without prescription. Be EXTREMELY wary of getting it from other countries - it's precription only for a reason; its use needs to entail a certain amount of professional monitoring. When you buy stuff over the internet you don't really know what you're getting - and if you find POM meds available without prescription this is particularly dodgy and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

Take your pet to the vet if you want Malaseb. For one thing, you can't be sure it's suitable for your dog's condition - you need a vet to tell you this, there may be a better option. It is not expensive stuff (more expensive than just regular shampoo obviously), so you may as well just go for it.

It is a prescription only drug, so even buying it online, you would need a prescription. It's pretty strong stuff, I can understand why it's prescription only - go to your vet if you think your dog needs it.
