If he is getting bare spots I would have a skin scrape done to rule out mange. Puppies don't usually "shed" much.

I have a sharpei shappard mix, he sheds a TON, but never has bare spots. I brush him every weekend and could create another dog with all the fur I get off of him. If there are bald spots or the skin looks red and irritated then take the dog to the vet. Sharpeis tend to have sensitive skin.

peis are notorious for skin issues and allergies. Definately get him into the vet for a skin scraping, mange is a possibility. Or could be the food you have him on. Try and get a quality kibble like Natural Balance no corn, wheat, soy or sunflower oil. All HUGE allergens. Good luck and I hope all goes well!

Shar peis are probably the number 1 breed for getting skin and ear problems due to their excess skin. Bald patches aren't normal on any animal - especially as he's a shar pei I would get him checked to find out if I was about to do the typical shar-pei-skin-problem dance.

Might just be seasonal shedding, but you should get into the vet to have a general physical exam regardless. You never know what those strays can bring into your house.
