Besides from prestige/status symbol are there any good reasons why I should buy a $5000 Rolex over a $50 Casio? The Casio seems to have much more functionality.

The same argument applies to diamonds vs cubic zirconia
Lexus vs Toyota, etc. If you worry about the price, you can't afford it :-)

I am sure the $5K Rolex has Titanium or steel handband and gold and maybe even diamonds. It is more of a jewlerly piece than a practical watch.
The Rolex you can also probably leave to your kids...
There are certain watches that do appreciate in value as time goes by, as collector's items, but in practical terms, nothing beats a $50 watch, except maybe a $25 TI watch.

My wife had a Rolex datejust and one of the hands fell off as I bought it from watches of switzerland in bond street it was genuine , so I still wouldn't advise get the casio unless you want to lose all your friends , or worse still have them all collectively beat you up to a pulp.
I'd beat you up if I saw you wearing it , no offence of course I bet you are a nice person , but casio??

ok, i wouldn't beat you up if you were wearing a Casio, but if you are looking at possibly buying a 5K watch, why even look at a $50 one? TAG watches are really good, if you don't want to shell out the extra couple grands. They are very reliable and great quality.
