nine days is a very, very long time to be away at the age of 9!!
As a parent and teacher, I would advise against letting her go. It is quite unusual (I've never heard of it!) for a school to go away for 9 days with children aged 9, plus there are so many other issues involved. I'm sure it would be fun for a couple of days, but then she would miss you and her known routine and at her age, she would definitely become upset. If you could accompany her, great. If not, this is a really bad idea.

I would only let her do it if I could be one of the chaperones. If she was a little older, no problem, but 9 is kind of young in this dangerous world. I wouldn't necessarily trust the other chaperones unless I knew them all very well already. Just because they are adults does not mean they have brains.
It would be a fabulous experience for her, one that I would regret her having to miss, but I just couldn't let her do it at that age unless I went too - or if my mom or some other family member could chaperone if I couldn't get away from work.

9 days to five different cities, that is alot for a 9 year old. I could see maybe if it was to one place staying for 9 days, but alot can happen traveling and what not to five different places. I know you want to be supportive to her, but just explain how dangerous things are to such a young girl without 24 hour supervision. I am sure there is not going to be an adult for every child. I personally would not let her go.

How many adults are going with the choir? Can you go as a chaperone? Is your daughter the kind of responsible child who will listen to the adult in charge and not wander off? I think that if she really wants to go and there will be proper supervision, I'd let her do it.

A great opportunity for your child to learn that she can be independent and make her own choices! If supervision is going to be excellent and you trust her carers, and you are able to call her each night to make sure she's well, then absolutely she should go! She will probably come back full of self-pride and enthusiasm, having learnt that she can do something challenging and fun even without Mommy right next to her. Great idea!

HELL NO!! Are you serious???? Not if you aren't going. Sounds like you and your sister were raise by different parents and you got the ones that would have let you go on a trip without them at the age of 9.

i believe in letting a child grow and be all they can be BUT i would not let my 9 yr old daughter go without me or a parent that was a close friend of mine, someone that i really trusted. if you dont have that then she may have to miss out

Well do you feel comfortable, personally depending how many supervisors there are and kids, cause if there are only 5 adults and 30 kids not a good idea.

You are the parent not your sister, if you truly trust the situations and the people who will be supervising then do what your instinct says. Mothers intuition is usually on point.

You should let her go as long as it is a school function that is supervised. You could also volunteer as a chaperon and then you would be along for your own peace of mind.
