The bread is a goofy idea, though I'm sure someone tried it. But yes, you can clean wallpaper. If you visit a wallpaper shop, they have a cleaner there for you. If you want something DIY, make a pumice of baking soda and salt (a box of each) in a mixing bowl. Then mix in about 1/3 cup of water, in spoonfuls, just to get the mix to hold together. Rub it over the walls to get the grime off. If you have tough areas, you can rub the baking soda/salt over the walls, then spritz lightly with vinegar to bubble up the grunge and wipe off with a sponge.

what kind of wallpaper? check hese out---> plain paper wallpaperr- Plain wallpaper can be the most beautiful with subtly embossed modern or Victorian designs and a full palette of colors. It is also the most delicate. Some come with a light protective covering, but check with the manufacturer to be sure. It is prone to moisture stains and can be destroyed by the artistic child! solid vinyl wallpapr--->> Solid vinyl wallpaper is just what the name implies. It's really great for playrooms, pet areas, laundry rooms and mudrooms but can be used anywhere since it resists water, grease and other stains. It can be washed and scrubbed, just avoid an abrasive cleaner that might wear holes or cause tearing. coated fabric wallpaper--> This duplex wallpaper is fabric bonded to paper and is very popular with interior designers. It may also have a vinyl or acrylic coated surface and is often expensive but more prone to moisture and staining. Generally, it is quite durable but should not be used in the bathroom, kitchen, or areas when children are likely to be at work with markers! vinyl coated wallpaper---> Vinyl coated wallpaper (vinyl bonded to wallpaper) has an acrylic or vinyl coating over the surface. It's pretty resistant to stains of grease and moisture and more tolerant of cleaning. It accepts light scrubbing but never use an abrasive cleanser, rough surfaced sponge, or pumice on your wallpaper. While suitable for most any area, it is commonly used in children's areas, the kitchen, bathrooms or the laundry room. caring for wallpaperr---->> Most manufacturers provide in-depth instructions on how to clean their product. It depends completely on the type of materials it is made of . Always follow the manufacturer's instructions first! However, if none are available, most home improvement stores carry a line of cleaners to choose from (Absorene® claims to be the original "dry cleaner" - we haven't tried it). If you prefer to "do it yourself," we have some suggestions that might help. The first thing to remember is to always test the cleaner in an inconspicuous area!

Many wallpapers are washable. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, try washing with water in a small area that isn't too prominent. Wall paper specifically for kitchens and bathrooms are washable. I just wipe mine down with a sponge and clean water. If you have a flocked or grasscloth, you made need to check with a professional.

If the paper is good and stuck on the wall--not loose--
you can sponge paint over it with a mix of 1 part latex paint and 3 parts water. (A "part" is about a cup in this case.)
I've done it over an ugly green and white wallpaper with
a nice light cream paint.

Stale bread rolled like a sausage over the stain. If still wet try sprinkling talcum powder first then dab off with the bread
