I feel it is possible, if a few ground rules are adhered to.
No recriminations.
The Bible may be used as a reference point, but not as factual.
Diatribes and venting is not tolerated.
You only speak for yourself as a person and not as a representative for all

Anyone with a moniker or avatar is basically standing on a soap box, so no. There is no fudnamental difference between Atheist and Theist any more than there is between Cathloic and Lutheran.
Two opposing viewpoints that are vocal and evangelical.
There are some people here who don't subscribe to the concept of a diety, they don't necessarily call themselves Atheists. They, like the Hindu and Buddhist and Native Americans sit in the background here and say nothing as a general rule. They just watch the goings on.
YOu can have a friendly meeting with them for they don't give a hoot about any of it. Why should they, they are either have no belief or firmly believe. They don't need to posture!

I am a Christian. I co-exist with Atheists all the time. It would be wrong for me to agree with them about pretty much anything since their entire belief system is based around God not existing, and mine is the exact opposite.
I don't think there will ever be a church that both Atheists and Christians go to and agree on the doctrine, no. But to have a "friendly meeting ground," I do that every day with the people I work with, the people I used to work with, the people I go to school with, the people I meet here on Yahoo Q/A.

How about every single day of your life that you interact with other people? We all have a friendly meeting with lots of atheists and Christians and never even know it.

Yes. I get on very well with the Christians I know. About half by family is Christian and we have no problems. They believe in their god, I don't believe in any god. No problems. They are, however, real Christians not Old Testament Fundamentalists or Bible literalists.

sure. religion doesn't have to dominate every situation and its conversations so the where could be anywhere
if they are specifically discussing beliefs it has to be either online or in a neutral setting (preferbly public b/c people don't cause scenes in public)
there has to be an even amount of people on both sides. its best to avoid extremests from either side

After the extinction of humanity all the dust will behave mildly (except during sandstorms of course). There is no such thing as goodness or kindness or life. There is ONLY horror and death.

I think so, schools are the most likely place to find both in their true form. Neither are bad people, they just think differently and are stubborn.

face to face in a public place...the discussions wouldn't get nearly as heated without the avatar to hide behind

No it's not. The secret is NOT talking about your religious beliefs in every day conversation.
