You're absolutely right about misinterpretations.
However, the Bible is quite clear about God's stance on homosexuality. You only find references against it, and nowhere does it say that it's okay.
I don't think yelling at the principal is the best place to start, or even a good direction to go, and "praying for fire" is not my idea of spreading God's love.
The best way to defeat this "religious" problem is to talk with the leader (which is probably the pastor) and ask him why he's doing it and ask for scriptural backup for "praying for fire and yelling at your principal". If he seems to make sense, ask another pastor about it. And ask another, and another. Keep asking questions.
Personally, I think the crowd outside your school is in the wrong. But I don't know the situation or the context, so I have to leave it at that.

Well, I am a Christian, and I am personally against gay marriage, but I don't think it's right to stand around and jam my beliefs down someone's throat. Like that ever works. As for how to respond to the harassment, I would smile and say, "Thanks for your concern," and keep walking. If they continue to harass you or try to get physical, I'm sure security or the police would be happy to step in and get them under control. Yes, they have the right to their opinions, but not to harass others.
As for the pray for fire and yell at the principal, I have no idea what that's all about, but it honestly doesn't sound very Christian to me. For one thing, it sounds like they're wishing harm on others, which isn't Christian, and for another, yelling at your principal would be anti-scriptural because the Bible tells us to respect those in authority (Romans 13:1-2; Hebrews 13:17).

Ok, here's the answer: The bible says clearly that men that sleep with men and women that sleep with women is condemened. It has nothing to do with interpretation. It's pretty clear. The thing is, to what extreme do you take it? I say, leave it to God. You can't force people to think like you and that is what those pastors are trying to do which is just as wrong. And the whole "pray for fire" thing, I think it means that they want gays to burn and to pray for fire to come from the sky and burn them. Pretty stupid thing really. the point is, what you have to tell them is tell them that they can't force their opinions on anyone. God gave us free will to choose if we want to serve him or not. No one else but Him can make us change our opinions or our beliefs because that is what free will is about.

I think that you are not doing a good thing. You might think that you are, but I wouldn't say so.
The message that we are supposed to get into the world is not anti Gay stuff, but the Gospel. Your pastor taught you the Gospel message, right?
You have to preach the Gospel, it's what Jesus said to do. And using a protest, which you have every right to do, in order to represent Christianity is wrong. It's not what Jesus said to do. He said to preach the Gospel.
So I would not be a part of a church hat did what you are doing. We are not of the world, and trying to get others to comply with God's word is not our job. What our job is to do is be of service to the Lord in order for those who God wants to be led out of the world as we are led out of the world.
We are not a morality police. We are sinners saved by grace through faith.

What kind of school are you at? High school? College?
I would not respond with hostility. I would most likely ignore them. If one stopped me and got in my face about it, I would ask them - on a one-to-one basis - how does gay marriage personally hurt them? If two women across town want to marry, how does it hurt them personally? Does it make them more likely to beat their spouse, or cheat on them? Does it make them want to divorce their spouse? Or do they just come up with an "It's icky" defense?
And if they just keep yelling and being rude, I'd say something like the line from the old song: "And you'll know they are christians by their love", and then go on about my life.

Hypocrisy is worse than gay marriages. Much worse. It is the "holier than thou" bad seed that pervades and captures all of us. Those protesting people have never experience the grace of God, otherwise they would be understanding and would care about the cleanliness of their own house, instead of throwing stones. So let's be not hypocrites and let them protest.

I agree with Dog there, why are they outside of a school? I'd understand a little better if it were a courthouse or government building, but schools have no authority on marriage.

They're the real world version of trolls. Don't feed the trolls! (Ignore them)
While I am not a christian, I do have christian friends. I happen to know that anyone who would ask you to be disrespectful to authority or pray for fire (destruction) is not following christian doctrine.
