I believe Jesus was a great guy who should definately be someone who should be followed as an example. However, the entire "love your neighbor" thing was hardly original since both Confucius and Buddha both said similar things several centuries earlier. But, Buddha spent six years sitting under a tree and Confucius believed in a whole bunch of other weird crap, so I still like Jesus better. But, only an uneducated fool would believe that the world is 6000 years old and we are decendents of Adam and Eve. I don't care if you believe everything else in the Bible; that part's made up. I think Jesus was a wise teacher and we should listen to him, but I think most of the Bible is either extremely exaggerated or completely made up. After all, 20% of the Bible was written after Jesus died. So, would I be considered Christian or what am I?

Please no Bible quotes. I don't care and they won't change my thinking. I just want to know what I would be labeled.

Jesus didn't create right and wrong, he taught and preached to the people about it. He didn't just jump up to a world of ignorant people about religion, many probably already had, but his lessons furthered that, extended on what he had and tried to fix a corrupt world
May I ask where in the bible it says the world is 6000 years old?
As for the Adam and Eve stories, everything must be taken with a ground of salt. No the world wasn't created in a week, nor evolution, however strangely for something written around 200 AD they have gotten the evolution order right about what came first. Its hugely possible that "days" represent thousands of years, that Adam and Eve represent groups of people, tribes the basic human itself.
Everything written about Jesus was written after he died, I thinl it was Luke's version that was written about 300 years afterwards, and it shows very clearly the social context through how Jesus is portrayed.
Most of the bible is rooted in fact, even many of the miracles can be proved. Historical figures such as Heron killing all the first borns, the parting of the red sea, Jericho, Jesus's life and man others.
You need to find out what you are by yourself, its not like you were born with the certain beliefs to fit into one specific religion. You need to question yourself upon your beliefs and form your own code, then find a religion that is close to your own belief system as possible.

Dude first of all if man very created of evolution.Do u think cuz a perfect stone hit earth u were created.Do u know how beautifully and how complex our inner being is??
Perhaps i will tell u some science. If evolution were to be true than man is formed on earth. But just because how man created on earth doesnt mean the same process need to occur in another planet.life can form in another different process.I know somethings about universe.Do u know what formed earth might not be the same process that forms other planets. How come a gas planet like jupiter and a rock planet like earth formed from the same sun???.It has lots of contradictions. But the truth is man is somewhere near 6000 years old.The truth is scienties are trying to find because life formed like this it will form the else anywhere. But frankly do u think it will be true.If we were evolved from evolution we would have looked like that rock man in fantastic four. But evolution is a big lie.Ask a scientist where did the matter before big bang came and he would say well because we imagined it to be there in the first place haha.
But JESUS is real than anything and JESUS is no just a wise teacher he is our saviour and dearest friend.
John 3:16 says "For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoso ever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life".Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.

you would be labeled as confused to follow Jesus and His thinking is to know the WHOLE BIBLE the Bible was written way before Jesus died that is the old testament and the new testament is after Jesus' death and that happened over 2000 years ago the Bible tells us how the earth was made by God for us it is very historical so why you think it states the planet is only 6000 years old i do not know we are descendants of Adam and Eve but i feel i am kinda wasting my time but WWJD NOTHING NOTHING IN THE BIBLE IS MADE UP follow Jesus AND THE BIBLE or don't you can not pick and choose what you like about the Bible you either believe or don't but to partially believe you are asking for trouble dude and that is not good you can not say you were not warned get a Holy Bible one that YOU can understand and pray really hard say God reveal to me the truth you feel i need to understand YOU if you and i read the same scripture we will get 2 totally different meanings what God is going to reveal to you is not the same that will be revealed to me and the scripture you read today will have a different meaning tomorrow because you grow and learn well take care my friend and the choice is yours

Well... I think you're a person seeking goodness. Not necessarily Christian, as I think you might not believe in the totality of it. I mean I'm a person who also believes in many things in the Christian religion, but that doesn't mean I am christian.
I also believe in many of Buddha, Confucius and Mohammed's teachings... but they are all very similar. They're all targeted to the well-being of the world etc.
I don't think it has to do with who said what first or who said something different... It's the totality of it.
Make sense?

You would not be considered a Christian. We neither believe the Bible is exaggerated nor made up. We believe it is God's message to the world. We neither believe that Jesus was just a great guy, or just a wise teacher. We believe He is who He said He is. The Son of God and The Saviour of the world. He once asked His disciples who men said that He was. Then He asked them who they themselves said He was. He would ask you the same. Your answer would determine your eternal destiny. And referring to what you believe in the Bible, then asking not to be quoted Bible is a litle high-handed.

Free thinker?, Realist?, maybe just an adventurer seeking out answers? You sound to me to be just another modern day human being seeking the truth. Others may label you as something derogatory as you don't think like them , but I try to live and let live. I do try to love, understand and tolerate my neighbor, but I learned how to do that over the years......life and common sense are good teachers too.
Okay. I've read the answers and the labels thrown out there...I told you so!!!
So...I'll give you this little tidbit...It was God that said to Moses..." I am that I am "
What do I consider you? You are that you are.

I admire Jesus and think He was a prophet of the Divine, but I consider myself a Buddhist because Buddha told people the way they could become enlightened through their own efforts. Buddha said not to take anyone else's word for anything but discover things for yourself. YOU will have to decide what, if any, group you belong to. I can't tell you.

A Deist most likely. Thomas Jefferson felt about the same way, so he re wrote the Bible to get rid of all the garbage. You ought to read it, you would probably like it.: http://www.angelfire.com/co/JeffersonBible/
