I used to have thick hair as a child but when I got my hair relaxed when I was 15, I noticed that my hair was becoming thiner. I think it must be from all the chemicals from hair treatments. I usually dye my hair one or twice a year. Are there any hair treatments that I can use to bring back the thickness? Also, what should be the time interval when you're planning to dye your hair?

Thanks.

Thinning hair can be from over processing, over styling, or genetics. Straight hair feels thinner-than curly hair simply because it's straight. Relaxers can be very damaging if not used correctly (if you have it done in a salon - your hair should be fine). Coloring or dyeing is not a problem as long as you're using a good product (NOT Nice-n-Easy or dyes like it) Some people color their roots every 4 weeks - as long as it's good product, there should be no problem. Heat from drying and irons especially can be damaging and cause breakage. If you see that it's thinning at the scalp (not breaking) I'd suggest trying a shampoo/conditioner called Nioxen which is specifically for thinning hair.

Chemical treatments can cause hair thinning. You're over processing it which puts a lot of strain on the hair follicles. To try and make your hair thick again you can try Rogaine for Women. As for time interval, if you're getting it done at a salon, you can probably continue to do it once or twice a year. Try not to streak it, or heat fry it. Hair is so sensitive, you've kind of got to baby it a little.
