I think the simple answer is that it has always been a male dominated religion. The idea that God could be a woman was considered impossible just a few decades ago. Alot of people feel that Catholicism was a way to control women, therefore if all the persons in charge and God too was also male then the woman would understand that she is secondary to the man. So I'm sure you'd agree that Christianity itself is not perfect, and you've seen one of the flaws. My approach is to accept it, but modify it to suit me. Hope that answer helps!

God can't be a man or ball bags would be on the inside. I think they do it, because most authors prefer their protagonist to be a male. It makes for a better read - could you imagine the uproar in the middle ages if the bible text had said god was a woman? The church would never have allowed it. I agree considering the Bible is such an important book (I don't believe it either - but bollox or not, it does still command an important place in history as an important book as so many people follow it's text) they may have wanted to use a pronoun like they, their or its. But then women weren't much considered in those times.

Because the Bible says God's a He. Althrough out it, people begin their prayers with "Dear Heavenly Father," or the like. Even Jesus, His own Son refered to him as Father. Considering a woman can't be a father, God is a He.
The Bible is not a work of fiction. There are a great many things that have proven to be accurate in accordance with history. (Even if you don't believe in the lessons that it teaches.)
To say so means that you believe that the words of God are false. Therefore you believe that Jesus's death on the cross is also false. This is a very dangerous road to trod. Expect the afterlife to be a little roasty-toasty.
I'm not trying to threaten you or deter you away from God. Quite the opposite. God is in Heaven, and He inspired through others to write down HIS word. Inside of the carnage of the Old Testament, there is order. Inside the persecution of the New Testament, there is peace, forgiveness, and the gift of eternal life. Don't be so quick to turn your back on it until you fully realize what it is offering.

Women have a definite role in our system, to be a 'helper'. not a leader.
Really, the Bible HAS to be cited, because it is only from that we get our information about God.
(1 Timothy 2:11-15) Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12Â I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13Â For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14Â Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15Â However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.
So god has to be a leader...a male.

God is masle because in the original Hebrew and Greek God had the people writing the Bible use masculine endings, Jesus was a man and He is also God, God the Father is male, as is the Holy Spirit. No, that does not make Him imperfect.

He created 2 creation elements, a strong analytical one (Justice) and the weak loving one (Love). Justice the Men who shall rule the earth and the loving women who will take care of Men. God has been identified as "male" because the male was meant to be the ruling leader IN A SENSE...
-but i see God's justice as of a father and love as of a mother but God is both.

We believers live according to the word of God and you state not to use the Bible as to you it is fiction, so how can we give answer to your loaded question in the first place, incidently I have yet to see a Christian putting evolutionists into a corner by saying that they cannot use Darwins material to explain evolution.

If you think the bible is fiction why bother even asking the question. Anyhow we say god our father which would imply him, as opposed to god our mother which would imply her. But what do you care if you dont even believe in the bible. Maybe waste your five points on a half way intelligent question

First off the Bible is not a book of fiction. I'd be scared to death to make some statements like that. And God is referred to as HIm because He is the Son of the Living God. And He is perfect.

Tradition? Sounds better than "IT" - we know God is a spirit creature and therefor has no actual gender. I also think it makes "Him" sound more accessible, more personal. In the English language there's not a lot of choices that I can see - "Him", "Her", or "It". I don't feel that I'm actually assigning a gender to God when I say "him" - I think I'm just making him/her/it sound more like an actual being whose a lot closer to us than we even know.
