choice number three if showing the first actual attempted picture out of many you have taken since...

In the UK we would say " this is the first time I've (ever) tried to take a picture of the sun".

Definitely the second one.

The first one is typical of the Romance languages - French, Spanish, Italian, etc. The third one may be heard from time to time in US English.
