I'm Catholic and I believe in the 6 days of work and Adam and Eve. That is faith.

From school we learn that man started out from the form of an ape and we also were taught of the other things that came before man - dinosaurs and other creatures. And all these can be scientifically proven.

Does anyone think the two schools of thoughts can fit together? If not, which one do you believe in more?

Thanks!

Hello, I believe the two schools of thought can be put together. Adam was the first man created; man has learned that dinosaurs roamed the earth, and scientific evidence can prove this conclusion; the fact that man discovered dinosaurs roamed the earth does not disprove that man roamed the earth first.

What if there is other evidence out there that proves man was here first? And man has never found it? Today we base most of our conclusions by what has been found and what has been explained, but there may be more to it than what has been discovered so far.

Primates were created by God, so whether man was a primate to begin with or whether he was in a garden of paradise it proves that this being was created by God.

There is nothing out there that can explain were primates originated from; so if man evolved from apes, and apes or primates from fish as some scientific drawings many people have seen then how did the fish or primates get their start?

They do fit together. Adam and Eve were primative. They couldn't make clothing, kill animals for food or grow things. They didn't know how to read and write. Their concept of the world was a sheletered garden.

From there man evolved on their own through free will and with indifference to God.

Time is a mark in the sand used as a reference.

The Big Bang theory of science was postulated by a Catholic Priest and is accepted by the Catholic church so long as it was done intentfully by God and not accidentialy by some act of serendipity or randomness.

Science says the world is about 15 billion years old and the Earth and Sun came about 5 billion years ago and man came about a few million years ago.

Now that puts the Earth and Sun's creation 2/3 of the way from the Big Bang and Man's creation 99% of the way from Big Bang.

Genesis in the Bible says the Earth and Sun were created on the 4th day, that's 2/3 of the way from day one to day 6.

Genesis said God rested on the 7th day immediately after creating man, hence Man came along at the End of the 6th day or 99% of the way from creation.

Genesis said before MAN was created the beasts and fowl and fishes in the seas were created.

One can consider Dinosaurs beasts.

Animals were here before man.

Not every scientist subscribes to the Primate theory of evolution, in fact more and more and considering the "separate" spieces line concept.

Primitive, yes. I doubt Adam and Eve would fit in in your school. I doubt they could do fractions, decimals or construct a grammatical sentence.

They probably smelled and were a bit hairy, after all GROOMING has only been a thing since the late 1800s and early 1900s. Prior to that ALL men had long hair and most had beards and women didn't shave their legs.

The sweet smelling, dapper human is a thing of the last 120 years.

In fact, teeth whitening products other than toothpaste were not found until 1980.

Makeup was not in wide use until after 1920.

So, evolution is obvious and apparent.

And Science and Religion can share the same view.

It's the ORIGIN that is in dispute.

Science doesn't want to belive in a creator. In a super scientist named God who set up a lab and created a universe and then made life and man.

OF course, science does that all the time.

Must be an Ego problem.

Science's contention is there is NOTHING smarter than man.

A pretty shallow view.

Makes a heck of a lot more sense than the christians beliefs. Have often contemplated similar theories myself. In a place as vast as the known universe ... Think aliens are a mathematical certainty and a god is just something more advanced than another specie they come in contact with. Which again ... probability puts the possibility of something far advanced to the human specie ( esp in ancient times ) pretty high. There ya have it folks ... some of the weird things that occasionally cross my mind. :D PS ( post smiley ) Learn what's known about evolution ... humanity didnt evolve from apes per se. But is still 98% genetically similar to chimps. So the whole cross breeding part of your theory needs work.

I too was raised catholic. Remember that the bible has been rewritten and rewritten to fit what man wanted it to say. I DO believe in Jesus, and for the most part I think the bible is a "go by".. in other words, the theory works for me..
Did you know the King James Version of the bible( one of the most popular) is a re write that was changed under penalty of death to say what King James wanted it to say??
Another thing to consider is the language.. how can the wording and language possibly mean the same thing thing 2000-5000 years later?

Have you ever heard of the gnostic gospels?

Religion is what MAN want us to be... Religion is the fear and rules that people in places of power use to keep the peons in line.
Spirituality is what GOD wants us to be..

I left "church" life years ago, and I am closer to God now than I have ever been...

I am not trying to convert you away from your comfort zone...but do consider that there are many more ideas out there than what Catholicism will have you believe..

How heartfelt is a mass that you can repeat in your sleep??

I believe in the creation, God created Adam and Eve, and then when they sinned He put them from the garden of Eden into a harsh world where they had to find shelter and food.

What did they wear? Animal skins. Do I believe they were 'cave men'.. yes, but they had language and were intelligent and they began to learn how to use what they had and could create and 'evolve' from there. I do NOT believe they looked like the scientific interpretations of them.

Evolution happens today. What, pray tell, did we use 200 years ago to get from point A to point B? Horses. What do we use today? Cars, airplanes...etc. We have evolved.

No way do I believe in Darwins theory of evolution...after all is said and done it is still only that.. one mans theory. (And I WAS taught the theory in school..)

I don't believe the two schools of thought will ever fit together. I for one, did NOT come from a monkey. I don't care how much science thinks they can "prove" it they can't. I was created in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and I am very proud of that fact. I believe the world began with Adam and Eve after the Lord created them and I believe He created all creatures.

I believe in it I do, however I just don’t understand it! If Adam and Eve did come first (which is what I believe did come first) and as illustrated in pictures, they are fully evolved humans like us, how on earth did apes come about!?!?! If Adam and Eve were fully evolved humans, it would be impossible for apes to evolve into humans when Adam and Eve were already humans, unless they weren’t humans, and slowly each generation evolved? Ahhh the tension!

Edit: If Adam and Eve are our great great etc grandparents, then were all related (inbred) Hey cousin! lol

I know of no theories of thought that says people come from apes. The only way I see to mix both evolution theory and creation is to say that God created the world through evolution and just assume the book of Genesis is some elaborate analogy and never actually happened. That or say Adam and Eve were cavemen.

But, really. It shouldn't take much thought about which is more likely. Man gradually evolviing over millions of years in the same fashion that we observe bacteria and virus evolve over a matter of decades or God created man from dust and women from a rib.

There is no scientific PROOF that is true FACT that can undeniably say in any way that mankind has evolved from apes or any other prehistoric creature. I'd have to be dumb, deaf, and blind to believe that. There's recent proof also that the ape genome is significantly different in other apes, while in the human genome there's only a select few minor differences that of which determine eye color, hair color, etc.

This strongly suggests, if not proves that apes were never evolved themselves from any singular species which would have to be the case if evolution were true. Because of this, humans couldn't have possibly evolved from apes, as our genome would be significantly greater from human to human and we'd have super extreme differences across the board.

Everyday science is continually proving that of creation to be fact, much moreso than Darwins theory of evolution. There IS such a thing as adaptation, but not evolution in what Darwin theorized. It's blasphemy. Life as we know it didn't evolve out of nowhere from a single cell organism.

Besides... everything is constructed of atoms sopposedly right? Well, do you know what's holding the smallest parts of that atom together? What the very fiber of everything physically known to be existent is? Nothing. That's right, nothing. There's nothing there, and some say that this can only be explained as God, or a divine creator holding it together or have created it. Additionally life is simply so complex I find it hard to believe some can even deny the existence of God based on that alone.

Definitely Adam and Eve. What you are taught in school is only a theory; none of it has been proven. What we learn from the Bible is historical.

Dinosaurs are described in the Book of Job, in the Old Testament. This means they did exist; but not millions of years before man.

The Bible refers to the first Adam (the one who brought sin into the world), and the last Adam (Jesus Christ). It would not refer back to Adam if he were just a fairy tale.

We did not evolve from apes. It has never been proven because it cannot be proven. Stick with God's word, dear.
