Where did you get your puppy from? Puppies from petshops, and occasionally puppies from breeders have occasionally been wormed with pet shop products. These don't work!
So long as you clear up all your puppies poop and wash your hands, and make sure your kids wash their hands and don't put them in their mouth, they should be OK. To put your mind at rest, you can get human worming products from pharmacies. Ask which are suitable for children.
Please get some proper meds from the vet! They come in tablet, paste, suspension or granule form and they all work so have fun choosing.

Sounds like to me these worms are round worms. These worms are transmitted from the puppy's mother. They are thin, spaghetti looking. They are usually seen in your dog's poop.
They can cause your dog to have diarrhea, vomiting, loose stools and could even become dehydrated. Sometimes puppies can get pneumonia.
It will take sometimes as many as 3-4 times for puppies to be dewormed to get rid of all the worms.
As long as your kids are not around the puppy's poop you should not have any problems.
Just be sure and get the puppy to the Vet. for another round a medicine.
Good Luck with your puppy I have a 13 week old Lab puppy. She had the round worms too.

Hi, I recently got a puppy who's 9 weeks and the vet told me that puppies naturally carry worms and are often born with them or can get them from their mothers milk. It is important that puppies are wormed every 2 weeks because of this. Also with regards to poo and worms around your children he also told me to make sure small kids don't get near the dog poo as they can get sick so best advice would be that mammy should only clean up after the puppy and regular bath and bottom wiping etc for the puppy.

It is probably tapeworm. Dogs get them from eating an infected flea. Typical wormers will not get rid of tapeworm which is why your puppy has them even though she was wormed.
There is an OTC tapeworm tablet, but with your puppy so young, I would not recommend using it. You need to make an appointment with the vet and get the prescription tablets. The good news is it is pretty cheap and easy to get rid of. Usually the meds are less than $20.
Generally tapeworm will not spread to a human unless ingested. So, make sure your kids wash their hands after touching the dog or cleaning up any feces and everything should be just fine.
Good Luck!

Yes, dog worms are a danger to kids.
Get some puppy wormers from your vet - they are much more effective than the over the counter type. The vet will probably need to weigh the pup to make sure she gets the right doseage.

Make sure continue worm treatment every month for your pup. Also clean up after her. Don't let your kids have any chance getting in contact with puppy's poop.

Your pup has tape worms, and there's a special (disgusting tasting) medicine for tape worms. Regular worming meds do NOT kill tape worms. Go to your pet supply store and get Tape Worm Tablets and treat the dog immediately.
I don't think they will bother your children, but make sure the kids don't touch the worms. I think they'd only be affected if they ate the tape worms.

Deffinatly go to the vet, not only does their formula work 100% it is safe for pets, OTC medicine only kills round worms, which these are not. Your kids can get them but they'd have to injest this type, but you dont want to take the risk....see a vet. We charge 10$ minus the vet visit for wormy cats and dogs.

Please see your vet and get the dog wormed properly. DON'T do it with OTC medicine. What you're looking at sounds like tapeworms and you can only cure that with prescription medicine. YES your kids can get them.
